Good afternoon everyone!

We would like to take a moment to clarify something regarding the now demolished building at 203 Railroad street in the borough.

The property was outsourced to be torn down by the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority who then awarded a bid to Piccolomini Contracting to do the demolition and in doing so the Redevelopment Authority takes ownership of the property.

This means that Dawson Borough and its council members currently have no say, ownership or interest in the property.

The Redevelopment Authority maintains all future plans of the property!

With the majority of the snowfall complete and roads plowed, the borough will be clearing some alleys today.

We apologize for any inconvenient snow piles left from the storm as we tried our best to keep things as clear as possible!

We have been notified by the garbage collector Noble Environmental that trash pickup within the borough will be delayed by ONE day.

Good morning Dawson borough residents,

As we prepare for the impending snowstorm, we kindly request that residents avoid parking on the street, if feasible, and instead park to the rear of their homes to ensure swift and unobstructed snow plowing throughout the borough.

Our goal is to maintain clear streets and hills during the storm. Narrow streets with cars parked on both sides limit our ability to remove snow effectively. By having fewer vehicles on the streets, we can facilitate more efficient snow removal.

While we acknowledge that some residents may not have the option to park in the rear of their homes, we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Good evening everyone!

Council held their 1st meeting of 2026 with a lot of items on the agenda including our organization meeting.

5 of our 7 elected officials took their Oath of Office today and those include; John Pyda, Jason Hayes, Chad Bibby, Adam Russell and Courtney Brothers!

Dawson Borough elected officials are as follows,

Sandra Newell - Mayor
Thomas Swingle - President
John Pyda - Vice President
Jason Hayes - Councilman
Chad Bibby - Councilman
Paul Newell - Councilman
Courtney Brothers - Councilwoman
Adam Russell - Councilman

Good afternoon everyone!

Update for Haas street.

As of 1-4-26 we have restricted all access to the lower section of Haas Street from SR 819 and from Boyd Ave due to a corroded culvert pipe causing the asphalt above to collapse into the creek below.

Dawson Borough Engineers as well as PennDot have been notified of the issue.

Please avoid the area!
