Young Artistic Minds is doing very well since its inception in March 2017. The arts education pilot program launched in October 2017 at Brownell Stem Academy in Flint, Michigan. The art instructors were there for five months. We left there and in April 2018 we went to Pierce Creative Arts Elementary school in Flint to teach art classes for their after school program to Grades K-6. This was an eight-week program. Then we taught a basic digital photography class for their summer school program for Grades 4-6.
This fall 2018 we will teach arts education classes during the school day to Grades K-6 at Pierce Elementary. The students are amazing and really enjoy making art. Our teaching instructors will also provide art classes for their after school program during the 2018-19 school year that will also include two sessions of photography.
Young Artistic Minds has partnered with the Crim Foundation and the Flint Community Schools in the education initiative program. The Crim Foundation have a representative at each of the Flint area public schools to help with the needs of each school. AmeriCorps also have representatives at the schools to help where they are needed. This has been a great partnership for YAM. The above partners have been very helpful and kind in their support and to provide us with assistance when needed. I look forward to continuing this partnership as we move forward.
