New World Screwworm has been identified in a calf in Texas. The best way to be prepared is to stay informed on the location of any detections, stay vigilant and observe cattle for signs of infestations, report any suspects to your vet or animal health authority, and develop a plan for prevention and control with your veterinarian.

USDA APHIS confirms New World screwworm in a Texas calf; immediate containment, surveillance, and sterile fly release are underway to protect livestock.

We are all aware of the shortage in livestock veterinarians. UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine hopes to alleviate the problem through programs that inspire high school students to consider this career.

The FarmVet2B program, led by UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine and UC Cooperative Extension scientists, gives students a hands-on experience.
