Potomac Headwaters Home Rivers Initiative - Trout Unlimited We are working to protect, restore, enhance, and reconnect fragmented trout habitat in the Potomac H

Working in the Potomac headwaters since 2005, Trout Unlimited’s Potomac Headwaters Home Rivers Initiative focuses on using sound restoration techniques to protect, restore, enhance and reconnect the fragmented habitat found in the Potomac Headwaters to restore the brook trout fishery. We are actively restoring in-stream habitat with the use of rock and log, mitigating barriers to aquatic organism

passage, restoring riparian habitat by installing agricultural exclusion fence and riparian tree plantings, as well as, monitoring water quality, benthic macro-invertebrate communities, and fish communities to evaluate our restoration work and provide baseline data for future protection and analysis. If you are looking to become involved in our conservation efforts, please feel free to reach by sending a message to the page or via email to Dustin Wichterman, Associate Director for the Mid Atlantic Cold Water Habitat Program at [email protected].
