True freedom is absolute inner freedom, controlling the body, speech and mind. Then the person is happy almost regardless of external circumstances and acts with full conviction.
In terms of the body, this inner concentration means, for example, controlling your diet, taking care of the body, and doing other things that protect us from disease and avoid many physical problems. However, this is only the first step.
Then speech is very important. We have no choice but to communicate. Therefore, we should be able to do it - it is worth developing the ability to communicate, know how to properly convey information.
Finally, and most importantly, remember that true freedom rests in your thoughts, in your mind. Each action - good or bad - ultimately determines our motivation for how we perceive the world. Hence the mental factor is extremely important.
Therefore, to gain freedom, you must control your body, speech and mind. This is how you will gain much more freedom than you imagine.
From this perspective, discipline is not about limiting yourself - on the contrary, you are in control to gain more freedom. If you control yourself, your ego, then you have all the freedom of the world. First, you become aware of the nature of the ego, so you can see that there is no ego to hurt or embarrass. True freedom comes from overcoming the "self" - the real cause of our obstacles, personal and global problems. From my own experience, I can say that working with "self" is very interesting. Working with internal experiences is extremely liberating - so much we can do with them, rather than focusing solely on external conditions, many of which we are unable to control anyway. The root of all problems is the belief that they are real. I wish you to find within yourself the freedom you crave.

"Imagine all the good things that you did. Just concentrate only on the good deeds, the accumulations of good karma, from the moment you woke up today until now and dedicate that to ALL sentient beings."
