APAPA Davis Chapter leaders hosted a wonderful Meet & Greet with former Davis Mayor Ruth Asmundson, Pinole Mayor Cameron Sasai, and new Chapter President Elijah Navarro. APAPA Founder C.C. Yin also joined. It was very inspiring for the new student interns to meet Cameron, who is the first Filipino American Mayor of Pinole and one of the youngest mayors in the country!

⭐️Earlier this year, APAPA was honored to have Daniel Lurie, San Francisco’s new mayor, join our 🚂 Jupiter Train Float in the SF Chinese New Year Parade. Present were members of APAPA National and APAPA Davis! Together, we marched through downtown to celebrate the contributions of Chinese railroad workers and Asian Americans to our nation. We look forward to working closely with Mayor Lurie to amplify our voices on key issues and support diverse representation in his cabinet.

Our APAPA Davis Chapter had a wonderful dinner meeting last night at the lovely home of our Chapter leader and former Davis Mayor, Ruth Asmundson. We savored delicious Italian cuisine from Mama's and a special Filipino dessert made by Ruth's sister. This gathering was a joyful celebration of our recent successful event in honor of Asian Heritage Month and the achievements of our APAPA Internship program. Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to making it a memorable evening!

APAPA Davis Chapter leaders were honored to receive a proclamation from the City of Davis recognizing Asian Heritage Month last night. We accepted this proclamation on behalf of the AANHPI community in Davis with great pride. The proclamation not only celebrates our rich and diverse communities but also stands as a testament to the ingenuity, resilience, and diverse contributions of Asian Americans throughout history and into the future.

APAPA, founded 23 years ago, is a non-profit organization with over 40 chapters across the country. Our mission is to INSPIRE, ENGAGE, and EMPOWER API communities through leadership and civic engagement. We advance this mission by thinking globally and acting locally. Our chapter is deeply rooted in Davis, led by former mayor Ruth Asmundson and Carla Datanagan. We also have a dedicated student chapter at UC Davis.

To serve the student population, we have developed an internship program that connects college students with elected officials. This program aims to prepare the next generation of leaders by providing hands-on experience in public service and governance. Elected officials who have hosted interns have found them to be valuable additions to their offices during the summer. We are grateful to every City Council member in Davis, as each one has either hosted an APAPA intern or committed to doing so this summer.

We are profoundly grateful for this meaningful proclamation and the recognition it brings to our community.
