Davis Park Association Fire Island Beach Community / The DPA represents the interests of Davis Park–Ocean Ridge homeowners

The DPA works with Town, County, State, and Federal officials on erosion control, boardwalks, mosquitoes, West Nile, environmental assessments, and driving regulations, to highlight a few of the areas we are working on in an effort to make everyone’s summer a bit better.

Alert: West Nile Virus detected in Mosquito Samples at Multiple Fire Island National Seashore-managed Sites

West Nile Virus (WNV) has been detected in mosquito samples from multiple sites managed by Fire Island National Seashore, including Watch Hill and the Carrington Tract on Fire Island, and the William Floyd Estate in Mastic Beach. These samples were collected on August 18th.

Increased surveillance of mosquitoes in the area will continue. It is recommended visitors limit or forego outdoor activities between dusk and dawn.
