Volunteers Needed!

The Chesapeake Bay Power Boat Association (CBPBA) is seeking volunteers to support the Chesapeake Bay Swim for the March of Dimes on June 14. Volunteers (especially jet skis) are urgently needed to ensure a safe event.

📅 Volunteer Meeting: June 13 (procedures + equipment distribution)
📅 Event Date: June 14

If you are interested in volunteering your time and vessel, please contact:
📧 [email protected] (Kim Hewitt)
📧 [email protected] (Chris Houpt)

The more volunteers involved, the safer the event will be for all participants. Thank you for considering supporting this important community effort.

Parking Notice for Saturday!

• Clubhouse parking closed 7am–2pm (yard sale sellers only).
• No parking at the ballfield all day — space needed for the band, ice cream truck, SPCA van, and setup.

All cars must be removed by 7am Saturday so we can set up safely. After 2pm, Clubhouse parking reopens.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — Saturday, June 6th!

We’re getting close to the Neighborhood Picnic, and we could really use some extra hands to help the day run smoothly. Please sign-up using the link below or reach out to our picnic email.

We’re looking for help with:

Shifts will be scheduled so you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the picnic.

Thank you, neighbors — your help truly makes this event possible!

AwwwwwwwYEAAAAHHHHH! It's bacterial testing time, Sylvan Shores!

Listen: It's not even Memorial Day, but thanks to the dedicated team at Arundel Rivers Federation, bacteria testing has begun at the South River and Hardestys Cove (no apostrophe) locations. Both locations were sampled on Thursday and passed testing for the presence of Enterococci bacteria (which can signal the presence of more toxic bacteria that you do not want to swim with, play with, dance with, or generally encounter). So, if you are reading this in the past: dive in!

With the rain today and this weekend, we expect runoff to increase this amount of bacteria as it collects all sorts of detritus from the ground. As a general rule, you should not swim 48 hours after any significant rain, which is today, tomorrow, probably Sunday? It's kinda chilly anyway, innit? So, please stay safe if you are throwing caution to the wind and swimming/paddling/boating this Memorial Day weekend without a care for the unusually cool and rainy weather. Maybe just stay in the boat. On land. Inside?

Stay safe, Sylvan Shores! We'll see you next weekend...

🚤 Boat Ramp Temporary Closure

The Central Park boat ramp will be undergoing maintenance for a few days starting tomorrow, Tuesday May 19.

The ramp may be used when crews are not actively working, and the project is expected to be completed by the weekend.

We’ll keep everyone posted if anything shifts.

Lost Item - Pendant

We don't typically post lost & found items, but a young resident lost a small pendant that’s very special to him. He even made his own flyer. 🥹

It’s a brown ceramic jar with a silver band and a cork top, about 1–2 inches tall. It came off a necklace.

He thinks it may be at the playground, but it could also be near the basketball court or along Remital, Orchard, or Poplar.

If you spot it while you’re out and about, he would be very grateful!
