Celebrating Caryl Haring through a Legacy of Giving

The Caryl Haring Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Davenport Schools Foundation (DSF) in Davenport, Iowa was created by Cynthia Haring in May 2012, shortly after her mother, Caryl, passed away. Scholarship awards, totaling more than $14,400, have been given out to 24 “future teachers” from 2013 - present. Every year Cynthia comes from Florida to present the awards during the Davenport School Board meeting in May. In 2019, four students received a Caryl Haring Memorial Scholarship: Noah Hensley, Branden Leon, Allison Morris & Makenna Terry-Devore. Past recipients include Jordyn Driscoll, Alyssa Duran & Emma Saskowski (2018); Anna Arvanitis, Kayleigh Bolick, Brian Dennis, Cole Flack, Madison Harland, Brittany Hildebrandt and Nikolas LaMaack (2017); Anna Black, Andrea Figg, and Jonathan Shaw (2016); Grace Schebler and Sydney Porter (2015); Hannah Herington and Olivia Terronez (2014); and Emily Doxsie, Makhala Swift and Samuel Flesburg (2013). These graduating seniors were chosen for their commitment to children and their desire to go into education and make a difference in the lives of children, just as Caryl did during her 40 years of teaching.
