One project being funded this fall is the efficiency stove and kitchen at Shammah school. The school will have a cleaner, safer, and far more efficient cooking facility. Wood burning could be reduced by 60 or more percent.

Today in Kyankoole. At a far point on lake Kyoga. Here with a parent who is growing greengram. This high protein food source matures in two months! It can be grown 3-5 times a year. What a blessing.

In addition to our current community /school nutrition program we are also working on a new “Green kitchen” project.
Pictured is the cooking wood necessary for preparing the nutritional lunch porridge at a primary school. This pile of mango wood will be used in about three weeks! The time required for the mango to grow befor harvesting is 12 to 15 years!
We are hoping to construct modern enclosed combustion wood burning stoves and small single room kitchens at five schools. The stoves will use as little as 10 percent of the wood currently burnt. The plan also includes planting soil enriching trees that can be used for future cooking wood.
I the 19 years Life to Life Global Building Group has been doing projects in Uganda we have seen the population explode from 26 million to over 53 million. With this growth and inefficiently cooking every meal there is certainly disaster on the horizon.

If you would like to learn more about this project or contribute to the funding of one of our stoves please see our donate button on the web sight at globalbuilding.org or contact me directly at [email protected]

Just in, an update from the Life to Life Global Building Group school /community nutrition project!
This is in Butabaala, at the primary school garden. Here our partners with the Center for Evangelism are teaching families in the community about planting different crops that that will provide protein rich food sources.
Sadly, in recent years, there has been a shift to mono crop farming in an attempt to generate income. The unfortunate outcome has created shortfalls in nutrients grown for consumption.

Here my dear friend and brother Nicta speaking with a group of students at Namusiisi primary school. Nicta has been a wonderful leader in these communities working through the local CfE churches. In each meeting Nicta asked a simple question pertaining to meals consumed daily. As it turns out forty years, people consumed three to four meals each day and today they have only one!
So what has gone wrong? Why this backward trajectory?
