Commemorative Brick Project Update: Our park is expanding in a huge way... we finally have the beginnings of the Brick Project foundation taking shape. Hopefully tomorrow we get the framing constructed and concrete poured at the Brick Display location behind the Bugler Statue. Very excited to see the growth of our Veterans Memorial Park. Next, we should see footings for the other 3 statues and installation at the park. Rg

One week from today, on May 19th, the NVAR will arrive in Davenport as part of their annual journey across the United States, traveling from Sacramento to Washington, D.C. As part of their visit, they will honor our local heroes by placing a wreath at the Davenport Veterans Memorial Park (VMP), paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War.

Please take a moment to join us in recognizing their service and remembering their sacrifices. Together, we will read the names of over 200 fallen warriors inscribed on the new Memorial Wall at the VMP and place a wreath with full honors in their memory.

The Davenport Veterans Memorial Park Phase III Enhancements have begun with a new project to be constructed and displayed at our new park. Our Commemorative Brick display will allow our community to purchase a 4"x8" engraved brick to Honor and Remember a Veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces. The Friends of VMP have established an online application for you to purchase your unique brick honoring a family member, friend, father, mother, sister, or brother for a $100 donation to help fund existing and future Phase III enhancements to your park. Other Phase III enhancements include a Female Soldier Statue, Sailor Statue, a Memorial Wall of Honoring local veterans who lost their lives either directly or as a result of the war in Vietnam. All funds raised by our FoVMP members are used solely for future enhancements and projects that have a common goal: To Remember and Honor those who have defended our country.
