rites, films, edits, and presents their films to the community at a premiere event held at the Figge Art Museum. Studies show that participation in programs like Urban Exposure benefits youth’s social, behavioral, and cognitive development. Yet, these programs are often the first to go when schools are financially strained. Because of that, there is a great need for underserved young people in our community to have a positive and proactive outlet for self-expression. Azubuike and its Urban Exposure film program provide youth the opportunity to do just that in a healthy and culturally rich environment. About the Acting for Film Workshop
The two weeks (twice a week) acting workshop allows students to participate in a short training that requires full involvement in learning the craft of film acting. Production Crew Bootcamp
The 1-day production crew training is a boot camp-style workshop. The filmmakers take students through the entire process in just one day. Students will learn how to handle the equipment properly, work on a film set, production terminology, essential film crew titles, set protocol, and more. Open Auditions
Urban Exposure filmmakers look for local actors to act in their short films. We have a three-day open casting call for actors of all types and ages. Actors are asked to bring a current photo, bio, and a prepared scene. Actors may audition any of the three days, they receive audition updates by sending their contact information to [email protected]
