He who dwells in the secret place… Lives under a protection fear cannot pe*****te.
Psalm 91 is not just a comforting chapter.

It is a warfare psalm. A covenant of covering.
A declaration that those who abide in God do not live exposed. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Dwells. Not visits. Not occasionally checks in when life gets hard. Dwells. Lives there. Remains there.

Because protection is connected to position.
And the enemy knows this. He cannot easily attack what is covered. So what does he do?
He tries to pull believers out of the secret place.

Distract them. Overwhelm them. Keep them too busy for prayer. Because if he can pull you out of abiding… He can make you feel exposed.

But Psalm 91 says otherwise. “He is my refuge and my fortress…” Fortress. That is military language. A stronghold.
A defense. A place the enemy cannot casually pe*****te. Do you realize what that means?

You are not vulnerable the way fear tells you that you are. There is a refuge around you.
There is a shadow over you. There is a covering on your life.

Verse 10 says, “No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.” Near. It may try to come close.
But close is not the same as access. Because there is a difference between something approaching… And something being permitted.

And Psalm 91 declares there is a boundary around the believer. A holy perimeter. A hedge. A covering fear cannot cross without permission.

Verse 11 says, “For He shall give His angels charge over you…” Charge. Assignment.
That means heaven is not passive concerning you. There are assignments for your protection. Angelic activity surrounding your obedience. Help you cannot see. Protection you may never even realize you needed.
And this is why the enemy fights your revelation of Psalm 91.

Because if believers actually believed they were this covered… Fear would lose much of its grip. Anxiety would lose authority. Worry would have less agreement.

Because covered people walk differently.
They pray differently. They sleep differently.
They fight differently.

So if fear has been whispering… If the future has felt uncertain… If your mind has been under pressure… Return to the secret place.
Dwell. Abide. Remain. Because Psalm 91 is not just something you quote. It is something you live.

And when you know you are covered… You stop living like you are exposed.

Good morning.

Just wanted to post a quick update.

Due to sickness, travel, and the death of a close friend to someone in our group we will not be able to meet this month. We will pick back up in April. I will post soon about our next hangout and will miss all of you on Friday!!

This morning we were finally able to have our Christmas party. We put it off because our newest member was born 2 days prior to the date that we had scheduled our party. She was a month early!! God has already put His hand on her life in a mighty way. We cannot thank Him enough. Here we are a month later celebrating her birth, His birth, and another one of our members getting married all at once.

We had so much to celebrate and share today. We ate some awesome breakfast quiche and pastries, played some fun Christmas games, and exchanged gifts too.

Just like each time we come together Jesus was the center and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

The birth of sweet Ava & Michele’s wedding that takes place next week. We pray blessings and God’s hand over both. We are so excited about the year ahead.

This is so true.

If I am the same person I was five years ago then I haven’t gotten closer to Him in the last five years. I will change if I am present in His presence. Meaning that if I truly spend time with Him focusing on Him and not allow anything to distract or interfere with His time I will be transformed. I will think, act, speak, and obey differently.

He is perfect - He doesn’t change. However He changes us the more we are with Him. When we change simply because we have been with Him it is authentic change. Change that we mandate/force on ourselves becomes heavy and hard to maintain - when He transforms us we dont have to work to maintain it - all we have to do is continue spending time with Him.

For years I didn’t understand this. I thought if I changed my opinion or thoughts on certain things that I was being fickle or be tossed to and fro by whatever or whomever I was around. I am so thankful that I now see it from a different perspective. Growth means change and as long as I am becoming more like Him then change is a good thing.

We are often intimidated by the task of being more Christlike because we think that it will require a lot of work from us. However, it actually requires little or no work from us other than making space/time in our lives to just be with him. Being truly present in His presence, does the work for us. Lack of change is proof that we have failed to truly be completely present in His presence - allowing Him to be our only source. We can read scripture, listen to worship music, go to church, pray, and do the work of the church all we want and yet never be changed. It is not until He is invited into all these places, and all other aspects of our life that true transformation happens.

As His daughters we have access to Him and to insight, freedom, peace, wisdom, joy, strength and so much more that only He can give. The more time we spend with Him the more we will walk in His ways. I urge you today to begin to be even more intentional about your time with Him than ever before.

Transformation happens without force when we spend time with Him.

Spending time with Him allows the fruit of the Spirit to begin to grow in us and flow out of us. We won’t have to force ourselves to bear His fruit. When we force love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self control to flow out of our own self will, it eventually becomes to much to handle and we give up simply because we were not created to equip ourselves with those things. His presence equips us with His fruit. It is only when He develops fruit in us that we become authentically like Him.
