Helping Darien Seniors live independently, comfortably and with dignity in their own home and the community as long as possible. Available weekdays 9 a.m. Free.

Services Offered:

TRANSPORTATION FOR SENIORS

Enjoy door-to-door transportation in our 4- passenger sedan or our 5-passenger handicap-accessible minivan. to 4 p.m., serving Darien, Stamford, New Canaan and Norwalk destinations. The service is free but many riders choose to make a contribution of $5 per round trip ride. Transportation to medical appointments should be booked at least 48 hours in

We continually check out service providers, including handymen, electricians, plumbers, painters, bookkeepers, computer wizards, appliance repairmen and more. The referral service is free, and many vetted service providers offer discounted rates to Seniors. ADVICE AND RESPOURCE FOR SENIORS

As you get older, new questions come up all the time. how to apply for property tax deferral? Who can help with your medical insurance? Where to borrow a walker? ASK US! Call 203-655-2227 and we will get you the answers you need and correct you to the right resources. VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Friendly Drivers - offer transportation to and from locations we don't service, at hours we don't operate, or when you need someone to accompany you to an appointment. Our volunteers are safe drivers who use their own cars. All have a valid driver's license and sufficient personal insurance. Friendly Visitors - make home visits to Darien Seniors, providing regular companionship and support. You and your Friendly Visitor can decide together on your activities. You can play cards, read aloud, or just chat. Friendly Shoppers - run errands or grocery shop for homebound Seniors on a regular basis or as needed when a temporary issue prevents you from getting about. Friendly Helpers - take care of small tasks in a Senior's home, like changing a light bulb or replacing the battery in your smoke alarm. SENIOR NEWS YOU CAN USE

At Home in Darien will once again be holding its Annual Luncheon, co-sponsored by our friends at the Darien Community Association.

The event will include a delicious lunch served by members of At Home In Darien’s staff and Board of Directors, and will feature a special guest speaker (details are currently being finalized and will be announced prior to the event). Don’t miss this annual favorite! Check in begins at 11:00am, and a complimentary lunch will begin at 11:30am. Space is limited. Please respond early to ensure a seat at this popular event.

Out and About Trips enjoyed a relaxing summer day at beautiful Island Beach in Greenwich! Participants took a ferry ride to this local gem located approximately two miles off the coast of Greenwich, and enjoyed lunch and a fun afternoon! 😎☀️

Our popular Summer Beach Party is back! Co-sponsored by The Mather Center and Seniors Helping Seniors, this annual gathering is the perfect way to enjoy a summer afternoon by the water. Come for great food, music, wonderful camaraderie, and plenty of laughs in the beautiful setting of W**d Beach. This event is FREE, but space is limited.

Thursday, July 23rd at 12:00pm, 150 Heights Rd. (Darien Commons). Cost for lunch is $23. Call At Home In Darien at 203-655-2227 to reserve your spot and request transportation if necessary.

Join us for our next Out & About Eats lunch at Bareburger! Choose from select burgers featuring beef, bison, or elk, or enjoy a grilled or fried chicken sandwich, served with your choice of fries, sweet potato fries, or onion rings and a soft drink, lemonade, or iced tea. Cost is $23 and includes meal, beverage, tax, and tip.

Participants were treated to watermelon and s'mores, while enjoying not only the dazzling display of fireworks, but also each other's company! At Home In Darien members enjoyed a beautiful day at Greenwich Point Park (Tod's Point), as part our Out and About Trips program. Participants were transported in our passenger van, and enjoyed lunch and the waterfront scenery while socializing and strolling along the shoreline of one of Greenwich’s most scenic destinations. TICK SAFETY AND LYME DISEASE PREVENTION
Monday, June 29th at 12:45pm. Call Darien Senior Programs at 203-656-7490 to register.

Join Dr. Jessica Brown, a Postdoctoral Agricultural Scientist from The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, for an engaging discussion on preventing tick borne illnesses, including Lyme disease. Brittany Roy, the Public Health Nurse for the Town of Darien, will also be onsite to discuss the Tick Testing Program for submitting ticks that have been removed from individuals.

This group is open to anyone who cares for a family member or friend with needs, especially related to cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. This group will explore your concerns in a supportive and safe environment.

GRIEF SUPPORT CIRCLE
Thursday, June 11th at 1:15pm. Call Darien Senior Programs at 203-656-7490 to register.

This session will be led by Ali Ramsteck, Director of Human Services & Mather Center. In this circle, individuals may share their experiences of loss, find comfort in community and begin healing together. Through open dialogue, participants may connect with others navigating similar journeys. All in a compassionate and judgement-free space.
