Congratulations to Arturo Zizold/Alessandro Baldassari for winning US Youth Champs at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club. The team was neck and neck with the 2nd place team of Harrison Gandy/JP Panebianco until the final day. Other than their throwout - a 7th - all their finishes were firsts or seconds!

Finishing 3rd, and the top girls team, was Sophia Alexopolous/Ana Gazoni.

This was the sole US qualifier for Youth Worlds, with the top boys and top girls teams qualifying for Youth Worlds in Villamoura, Portugal in December:
- Arturo/Alessandro
- Sophia/Ana

Racing was very tight, with 3rd and 4th place decided in a tie breaker, and 5th place just one point back.

Conditions were challenging both on the water and off, with tremendously variable wind conditions, from too much to not enough, along with significant flooding in the area near Alamitos Bay Yacht Club from a tropic storm and Kelvin wave.

Kudo to Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, US Sailing Team, all the volunteers, parents and coaches who helped make this regatta possible under these trying logistical and weather conditions.

The US I420 Class undertook boat measurement inspection at US Youth Champs yesterday as part of our commitment to fair, high-quality competition. The regatta, run by US Sailing and Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, is the sole Team USA qualifier for Youth Worlds in the doublehanded dinghy - and it's important to ensure everyone’s equipment is class-compliant.

Congrats to all the sailors, coaches and parents who were very well prepared with their equipment and well organized documentation ready for inspection by our new US I420 Class Chief Measurer, Janet Grapengeter, who traveled to ABYC for the regatta.

Congrats to I420 Class Vice President, and former Chief Measurer, Dimitris Dimou on being appointed Chair of the Technical Committee for the 2028 LA Olympics.

Dimitris is the current chair of World Sailing’s Equipment Rules Sub-Committee and was the Chair of the Technical Committee at Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

420 Class Vice President Dimitris Dimou appointed as a Lead Race Official for LA28 🇺🇸

World Sailing has confirmed the Lead Race Official appointments for the LA28 Olympic Sailing Competition, taking place from 14–30 July 2028 across Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles.

Dimitris Dimou (GRE), Vice President of the International 420 Class Association, has been appointed Chair of the Technical Committee for the Port of Los Angeles venue.

In this role, Dimitris will lead a committee of International Measurers, with responsibility for ensuring that every boat competing at the venue complies with its Class-specific rules.

Dimitris is also the current Chair of World Sailing’s Equipment Rules Sub-Committee and previously served as Chair of the Technical Committee at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Our hearts are with the people of Biscarrosse.

Just a few weeks ago, our 420 family gathered in this beautiful community for the 2026 420 World Championship. Today, we are deeply saddened to see the devastating wildfires affecting the region and the people who welcomed us with such warmth and generosity.

On behalf of the International 420 Class Association, we express our sincere support and solidarity to everyone impacted by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with the families who have been forced to leave their homes, those who have suffered losses, and the entire Biscarrosse community during this difficult time.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters, emergency services, volunteers and everyone working tirelessly to protect lives and this remarkable place.

To our friends in Biscarrosse: you are not alone. The entire 420 community stands with you, and we hope for the fires to be brought under control soon and for strength, safety and recovery in the days ahead.
