Darien Lions Club - Darien, IL

Darien Lions Club - Darien, IL www.darienlions.org We meet twice each month from September through June. Four of our dinner meetings are semi-formals which wives/significant-others attend.

One meeting is a business meeting, and the other is a dinner meeting that features a guest speaker. Although we are serious in our work, we always manage to have a little fun as well.

On Feb. 7th several members of the Darien Lions Club, volunteered at “Feed My Starving Children” in Aurora, IL. They packed up hundreds of nutritional Rice Mannapacks that will be distributed around the world where in need. Another event where the “We Serve” motto is put into action. Afterwords, we gathered for our own “nutritional” dinner of pizza, beverages, & camaraderie to celebrate our good deed as Lions.

Please see the below letter/request from DeLay School PTA:

Dear Bulldog Families,

Sadly, we are reaching out with difficult news affecting one of our school families. A student in our district was recently diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving care at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he will remain for the foreseeable future. Our hearts are with him and his family as they navigate an overwhelming and uncertain time.

In moments like these, the kindness and support of our community truly matter. The school is putting together a gift basket and the PTA would like to offer additional support. We have been working with the school to compile a list of gift cards that the family can use and toys for the child. While the PTA has set aside funds for this effort, we would be grateful to include contributions from our community to further support this family.

The information that was shared with us is that the family is frequently using Uber/Uber Eats, Walmart, Subway, McDonald’s, and Dunkin’ Donuts; gift cards to any of those places would be very helpful. The student also loves dinosaurs, Paw Patrol, cars, and trucks, so items along those lines would be greatly appreciated as well. If you would like to purchase something it can be dropped off in the Main Office at Mark DeLay by Wednesday, February 4th. Otherwise, if you are able, you can also send a donation via Zelle to [email protected]. We will be providing the school with our collective donation this Wednesday, so we kindly ask that any Zelle contributions be submitted by the end of the day Monday, February 2nd.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity this community has shown in the past. We are hopeful that together we can once again offer meaningful support when it is needed most.

Thank you,
The DeLay-Lace PTA
