Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. - Romans 10.1
Paul was deeply passionate about seeing his Jewish friends, family, and people believe in Christ. He longed to see them entrust themselves to Jesus instead of their own works or the Law.
So he prayed.
He prayed for their salvation. He grieved over their lostness. He shared the Gospel with them regardless of the cost. He even said that he could wish that he was “accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.” (Romans 9.3) That is a challenging and compelling statement of love.
Who do you and I love like that? Who are we weeping for? Who are we grieved for because of their spiritual brokenness? Who do our hearts long to see believe in Jesus? And what should we do for them?
Pray. Pray and serve. Pray and share. And then pray some more.
Coming to faith is a spiritual process. It requires God to open people’s eyes, draw their hearts, and grant them faith. We have a role to play in making the Gospel available to them. But only God can make it make sense to them and bring them to the Son.
So as we approach our 10th anniversary celebration on October 18, here’s our encouragement:
Make a list of the people you long to see believe in Christ
Pray for them. By name. Repeatedly. Passionately. Pray.
Invite them to join you for the 10th anniversary!!!
