We nurture inclusive gamer spaces and share our love of games through events that support Chicago communities.

Chicago Loot Drop is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to develop an inclusive gamer community, share our love of games, and spread joy within the city of Chicago. Since 2010, we’ve hosted events, raised funds, and donated toys and games to a variety of causes to bring gamers of all ages together to do good in our communities. Through our longtime partnership with Comer Chil

dren’s Hospital, we’ve donated thousands of toys and games to kids over the years. We are actively looking to grow our partnerships throughout Chicago communities. Through volunteering and social events, we aspire to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for gamers of all kinds to connect and game together online and irl. Whether you’re into tabletop or console games, an eSports champ or hanging around PokéStops, if you love to play games, you’re one of us.

We’re grateful for our donors for helping us with one of our patients! The patient was discharged from Shriners Hospital (one of our partners) and moved back home five hours away near Eau Claire, WI to be with family. Unfortunately, our adaptive controller didn’t make it in time for us to set it up for them at the hospital — but that wasn’t going to stop us!

We knew how much this opportunity meant to them and how much they wanted to get back into gaming, so yesterday we made the five hour trip to their home and got their new gaming controller up and running!

Within 30 minutes, the patient went from being unable to turn on the console to talking to NPCs in Final Fantasy X, driving a car in GTA, throwing smoke bombs and taking down thugs in Batman Arkham City, and testing combat inputs in Mortal Kombat 1. Our other friend who uses this controller even called us during our setup to provide tips and encouragement — and they offered to game online with them once they were ready to go!

The patient’s parent’s reaction was a mix of astonishment and pure gratitude. The smile on our friend’s face was also unforgettable — there was pure hope and excitement about being able to game independently again.

And that’s why we do what we do here at . We love games being shared, bringing people together, and helping our community through difficult times through the power of gaming magic.
