Our group purchased and assembled “organizer bins” for clients enrolled in a phenomenal program at Bridge Communities. The mission of Bridge is to transition families facing homelessness to self-sufficiency by working with partners to provide mentoring, housing, and supportive services. These boxes assist their clients in staying organized, keeping a budget, and planning their day. Each bin includes: files, folders, calculators, paper, pens, pencils, stapler, stamps, thank you cards, resume paper, etc. So glad to play a small part in the process!! Thank you to all who contributed and participated in another one of our projects!! -diem

H4H is very proud to support the unsheltered both on the streets of Chicago and those lucky enough to find temporary housing at one of the shelters that we assist. This year we surpassed our 2024 goal of 500 “we-care” back-packs filled with essential items and 500 food and amazon gift cards. We do this as a way of “paying it forward” and never expect a thank you but, this year, we were blown away by receiving 20 hand written thank you cards from clients who were the recipients of our all-purpose back-packs filled with gloves, hand warmers, hats, snacks, lip balm, deck of cards, and a gift card for a hot lunch.

It has been another successful kickoff to the upcoming holidays thanks to our faithful partner of many years now, the St. James the Apostle Catholic School community! Through their continued donations we are able to put smiles on the faces of those who need it most this time of year.

Beautiful weather in Chicago this past week but a true Chicagoan knows what is around the corner: dropping temperatures, ice, and snow. Homelessness is never easy, but the winter months prove to be particularly harsh. This year Hope For The Holidays NFP has partnered with Netevia and has prepared and distributed 100’s of “we-care” backpacks filled with essential winter items (hats, gloves, snacks, hand warmers, etc.). Our first drop off was at The Night Ministry, an organization doing amazing things for the unsheltered youth. https://www.hope4holiday.com/

How it started ➡️ How it’s going

Our summer projects have officially kicked off! The first “we-care” packages of the summer are all packed and ready to be handed out to those living on the streets of Chicago as well as distributed amongst some of our cherished partners. Filled with a variety of supplies ranging from Crest and Jergens US products for health & wellness to some must-have snacks, we are excited for another summer spent putting smiles on the faces of people in need across our beautiful city. This past week, in collaboration with MedMutual Protect, Hope for the Holidays was able to provide the clients of Sarah's Circle with some much needed supplies to gear up for the upcoming Chicago winter. The Med Mutual Protect team, headed up by Thomas Woods, assisted in assembling backpacks filled with gift cards, warm clothing, sweets, and other essentials as the holiday season kicks off. These backpacks were then dropped off at Sarah’s Circle where they were distributed to the women they serve.

We are incredibly grateful to Med Mutual Protect for helping us to further our mission as our busiest season approaches. We are also privileged to continue to aid in the great work done by Sarah’s Circle and we look forward to continued partnership. We couldn’t have had a better team for our winter season kickoff!

As is true with all our work, we would not have been able to do this without the consistent support of our donors. Happy Fourth of July from Hope for the Holidays! Yesterday we had the pleasure of working with Sarah's Circle to provide their clients with a celebratory picnic. As we are aptly named Hope for the Holidays, this is what it is all about for us! With the help of Ella's BBQ we were able to serve some incredible food, all of which received rave reviews. Additionally, we handed out backpacks filled with summer essentials and McDonald’s gift cards. We had an incredible time and the smiles on everyone’s faces at the picnic made all of our work well worth it. We look forward to continuing to be able to do things like this for our Chicago community & we couldn’t do it without the generosity of our supporters. Thank you & have a safe & happy 4th everyone!

THANK YOU to Bill and another anonymous donator, as we were surprised to find dozens Amazon delivered items from our wish list - these were perfect, as they completed our needs for bags of food: Gatorade, beef jerky, and a few other items. The drinks came in handy, as it was at the start of the hotter days!!!

It was another amazing day partnering with Bridge Communities, Inc.! We are thrilled to share that we were able to donate supplies to the clients of Bridge Communities so that they have the opportunity to stay organized and have all the necessary tools to succeed in their journey with the organization. “Bridge Communities provides free transitional housing to nearly 100 families facing homelessness in DuPage County each year. During the two years each family spends in our program, they are able to save money, learn budgeting skills, heal from the traumas of homelessness, obtain better employment, and develop valuable life-skills so they are able to maintain stable housing once they graduate.”

A huge thank you is once again in order for St. James the Apostle Catholic School! The students all came together and donated gift cards to both McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts totaling over $600. We are so grateful for their continued support and commitment to furthering the mission of Hope for the Holidays. These gift cards will go to great use and are greatly appreciated by not only us but more importantly the people we serve. Fantastic work St. James, thank you again!
