Such an amazing find!!

This week’s Throwback Thursday isn’t from the archives… it’s from the ceiling! 👀🏛️

During a recent engineering study of the building, we uncovered a hidden architectural treasure above the dropped ceiling in the Children’s Department - original Corinthian columns from the library’s 1902 Carnegie design.

These columns have been concealed for decades above the ceiling tiles. Discoveries like this are a wonderful reminder of the building’s historic craftsmanship and its roots as a Carnegie library.

Take a look at the photo to see a glimpse of this piece of history hiding right above our heads! ✨📚

📚 Did you know the best way to support the library is to get a library card and use it regularly? Every book you check out, program you attend, or resource you access shows your support and helps us justify funding for more community programs, collections, and services.

Your library card isn’t just a card, it’s a key to literacy, experiences, and community! Stop by to sign up or renew your card and start exploring today! ✨

We’re thrilled to welcome Hendricks Power Cooperative as our second corporate sponsor! As a Chapter Sponsor, they’re now proudly featured on one of our Study Room doors and they'll be sponsoring Full STEAM Ahead, a monthly STEM program for youth. We’re so grateful for their support and can’t wait for all the fun opportunities ahead.

Today, Emily visited the library to present us with a check. Thank you, Hendricks Power Cooperative!

We’re excited to share some wonderful news. We have welcomed our first corporate sponsor! Please join us in thanking Hendricks Regional Health for becoming a Novel Sponsor of the library.✨📚

Community partnerships like this help us continue to provide engaging programs, resources, and spaces for literacy and connection. We are so grateful for Hendricks Regional Health’s investment in the library and in the community we serve.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Senate Bill 8 did not receive a hearing in the Ways and Means Committee, but we’ve learned that similar language has now been added to Indiana Senate Bill 4 Various Fiscal Matters, a priority bill that is moving forward quickly. SB 4 contains no guardrails on budget reduction. This bill could be voted on as early as Monday, February 23.

We are asking you to contact your State Representative today, Friday, February 20, to share your concerns.

We are advocating for amendments that would:
✔ Restore guardrails limiting budget reductions to 10%
✔ Delay implementation until January 1, 2029
✔ Limit the binding review process to fiscal concerns
