Danville Rotary Welcomes DRAMA

The Danville Rotary Club was honored to welcome Carin Wharton and Greg Molter from the Danville-Riverside Area Ministerial Association (DRAMA) as our guest speakers this week.

DRAMA is a cooperative network of local pastors, churches, and ministry leaders working together to meet needs throughout our community. Their collaborative efforts were instrumental in the formation of The Good Samaritan Mission, and they continue to make a meaningful impact by pooling resources to support the humanitarian work of local churches and organizations.

One inspiring example of their work is a fund administered through the Mahoning Township Police Department that provides emergency assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis situations. These funds can help cover essential needs such as transportation, a hotel stay, or a meal, often filling critical gaps for people who may not qualify for other assistance programs.

What makes DRAMA's work especially remarkable is that they are often able to respond quickly when no other resources are available. They provide compassion, dignity, and hope during some of life's most difficult moments. Yet despite the tremendous impact they have on our community, DRAMA has no sustainable funding source and relies on the generosity of individuals, congregations, businesses, and community partners.

We encourage our friends and neighbors to consider supporting DRAMA's mission. Your financial contribution can help provide a warm meal, safe shelter, transportation, or other critical assistance to someone facing an unexpected crisis. Every dollar helps fill gaps and change lives right here in the Danville-Riverside area.

Last evening, the Rotary Club of Danville proudly hosted its inaugural Feathers & Fellowship Chicken Barbecue, combined with the installation of our club officers and committee chairs for the 2026-2027 Rotary year.

As we begin a new Rotary year, we remain committed to making a difference through community service, leadership development, and meaningful connections.

Building Connections Through Service

The Danville Rotary Club was pleased to welcome Dale Myers, retired U.S. Navy veteran and Director of Montour County Veterans Affairs, to our weekly meeting.

Dale shared important information about the work of the Veterans Affairs Office and the resources available to assist veterans across Montour County. Rotary members and Dale also discussed ways our organizations can partner to support veterans, strengthen community outreach, and expand opportunities for service.

Rotary's motto, Service Above Self, aligns closely with the mission of Veterans Affairs, and we are excited about the potential to work together for the benefit of those who have served our nation.

A Peace Pole carries the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in multiple languages, serving as a reminder that peace begins within each of us and grows through our shared commitment to kindness, respect, and service.

Last week, members of the Danville Rotary Club had the privilege of preparing and delivering a meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Danville. It was a meaningful opportunity to provide comfort, support, and a warm meal to families who are focused on what matters most: the health and well-being of their loved ones.

Our club is proud to partner with the Ronald McDonald House through ongoing hands-on service. This outstanding organization provides a "home away from home" for families facing medical challenges, helping ease burdens during some of life's most difficult moments.

Supporting the Ronald McDonald House reflects Rotary's commitment to Service Above Self and advances the common good by strengthening families, fostering compassion, and building caring communities. We are grateful for the opportunity to support their mission and make a positive difference in the lives of those they serve.

Community Partnership in Action!

The Rotary Club of Danville is proud to partner with the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Columbia and Montour Counties to help keep Riverfront Park in Danville looking its best.

Our Rotarians recently volunteered their time alongside Master Gardener Carol Burke to perform routine maintenance, ensuring this beautiful community space remains welcoming, vibrant, and enjoyable for all who visit.

This collaboration highlights the power of service and teamwork- combining horticultural expertise with a shared commitment to community stewardship.

A sincere thank you to the Master Gardeners for their partnership and leadership in caring for this important local asset!

Rotary Supports Young Readers!

The Rotary Club is proud to support literacy right here in our community by funding a free book for every 3rd grader at Liberty Valley Intermediate School.

We believe that fostering a love of reading at an early age opens doors to learning, imagination, and lifelong success—and we’re honored to play a small part in that journey for these students.

Thank you to Liberty Valley Intermediate School for partnering with us, and to our local Rotary supporters who make projects like this possible. Together, we are making a meaningful impact—one book at a time.

Thank You, Danville!

The Danville Rotary Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who brought electronics to be recycled at our e‑cycling event this past Saturday. Your participation helped keep unwanted electronics out of landfills and made a real impact right here at home.

We are also incredibly grateful for the generous monetary donations made during the event. Every dollar supports the good work of Rotary—helping us serve our local community and make a difference around the world.

Have old electronics taking up space at home? Bring them to Danville Rotary’s Electronics Collection on Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 AM to Noon at the Service 1st Federal Credit Union Parking Lot (1985 Montour Blvd, Danville)

✅ Nothing goes into a landfill
🔐 All electronics are securely wiped clean of data
🌍 Supporting environmental sustainability in our community

We accept electronics from everyone — you do not need to be a Danville resident to participate.

Donations to benefit Rotary are welcome, but there is no charge for recycling items except TVs, which require a $20 donation.

Help protect the environment, securely dispose of electronics, and support the service projects of Danville Rotary — all at the same time!

Service in Action for a Cleaner Community

Members of the Rotary Club of Danville were proud to partner with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for a recent community trash pick‑up along Route 54- working together to keep our roadways and shared spaces clean, safe, and beautiful.

Efforts like this support environmental sustainability, protect local wildlife, and help preserve the natural beauty of our region. Small actions, when taken together, make a big difference.

We all play a role in caring for our community. Please do your part and don’t litter. Proper disposal today helps ensure a cleaner, healthier Danville for generations to come.
