The 38th Annual Blackhawk Food Drive Benefitting the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano

Dear Residents,

The 2023 "Virtual" Food Drive was a huge success! It was the fourth year the drive was for monetary donations only rather than food donations. Blackhawk residents responded to the call for help and contributed $25,000 to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. These donations provided over 50,000 meals to people in need. The Food Bank can provide two meals for every $1.00 donation.
We will repeat that "Virtual Drive" for 2024. The Food Banks' buying power is remarkable. It is able to purchase fruits and vegetables for $0.12/lb. and can provide two meals for every $1.00 in donations. Shelf-stable items like canned chicken, tuna, peanut butter, pasta, applesauce, cereal, canned corn, milk, and canned peaches were the most common items purchased in 2023.
If you prefer to send a donation by check, the address is Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, 4010 Nelson Avenue, Concord, C.A. 94520. Please indicate "Blackhawk Food Drive" on the envelope and in the memo section of your check so the donation can be properly accounted for.
