Walking with the WAY in His Way - Psalm 1:1-6
When the child of God
Looks into the word of God
And sees the Son of God
They are transformed by the Spirit of God
Into the image of God
For the glory of God
-Warren Wiersbe
Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? - Amos 3:3
“I will walk with you, Lord, and in your ways, even when others don’t; even when it is costly and subjects me to trouble. My relationship with you is more important than anything else in my life.”
Psalm 1:1-6
Psalm 1 starts the Psalms by describing the choice those blessed by God must make – they refuse to walk, stand, and sit with those choosing sinful ways; instead, they learn and walk in the light of biblical truth.
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. - Proverbs 14:12 [Repeated in 16:25]
“My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.” - Prov. 1:10
The word for “way” in verse 1 is the word Derekh (H1870), which occurs 626 times in the O.T. It can be translated way, road, distance, journey, and manner. It’s the same word used in Prov. 14:12/16:25.
Blessed are those whose way (derekh) is blameless, who walk (halakh) in the law of the LORD! - Psalm 119:1
I have stored up Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You. - Psalm 119:11
Your word is lamp to my feet and a light to my path. - Psalm 119:105
God’s word is the map that will helps you walk where God wants you to go, and become who God wants you to become!
We all have choices to make in life. All choices have consequences. Some choices draw us closer to God and His plan for our lives, others take us down the wrong path away from God’s plan for our lives.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not something to be waited for, it is something to be achieved.” - William Jennings Bryan
For the time past that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, or**es, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. - 1 Peter 4:3-5
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with all those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. - 2 Timothy 2:22
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. - 1 Cor. 15:33-34
Once you turn to Jesus and trust Him for salvation, you become a child of God and the Spirit of Christ takes residence in your heart. That means “The Way” is inside of us helping us walk in His Way(s) through life.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching (what we should believe), for reproof (what we should not believe), for correction (how we should not behave), and for training in righteousness (how we should behave, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“This time I did not lose sight of the shore because I focused on the vision of the coast in my mind, and because of that, I reached my goal.” - Florence Chadwick
