We’re excited to officially welcome Brandon Merano as the new Executive Director of Operation Honor Guard!

Brandon brings a strong background in communication and storytelling, including his experience as an Evening News Anchor, along with a deep respect for those who have served our country. As an Afghanistan veteran himself, he understands the importance of ensuring our veterans receive the honor and recognition they deserve.

In this role, Brandon will help lead Operation Honor Guard into its next chapter—building awareness, strengthening relationships, expanding fundraising efforts, and helping us reach even more volunteer honor guards across the country.

How Do I Make Sure My Veteran Receives Military Funeral Honors? 🇺🇸

When a Veteran passes away, families may wonder where to begin or who to call to make sure their loved one receives the military honors they earned.

The good news is, your funeral director can guide you through the process.

Simply let the funeral home know that your loved one was a Veteran and that you would like military funeral honors. The funeral director can request the honors, provide the necessary service information, and coordinate the details with the appropriate military representatives.

If your Veteran will be laid to rest in a national cemetery, the funeral director can also coordinate the burial and committal service.

Having a copy of the Veteran’s discharge papers, such as their DD Form 214, available can make the process easier.

You don’t have to know who to call or how to arrange each detail. Start with your funeral director and let them know your loved one served.

Every eligible Veteran deserves the opportunity to receive the honors they earned through their service to our country.
