Fewer members. The same sacred mission.

Across the country, honor guards are shrinking in size, but their responsibility remains as important as ever. Operation Honor Guard helps support these dedicated volunteers as they provide final military honors for our nation’s veterans.

Help us strengthen honor guards across America.

For many military families, this is the moment they never forget.

The folded flag is placed in their hands.
The words are spoken.
And in that instant, a lifetime of service, sacrifice, love, and loss becomes something they can hold against their heart.

To the widows, spouses, children, parents, and families who have received this flag: we would be honored if you would share what that moment meant to you.

To the honor guard members across the country who have presented this flag: we invite you to share what it means to stand in that sacred moment on behalf of a grateful nation.

Every final salute matters.
Every folded flag carries a story.
Every honor guard member helps make sure that story is remembered with dignity.

At Operation Honor Guard, our mission is to support the men and women who continue to perform final military rites for veterans and their families across the country.

Please share your story in the comments. Your words may help others understand just how powerful this moment truly is.

One day, a veteran’s funeral could be missing something most Americans assume will always be there.

No rifle salute.
No sounding of Taps.
No folded flag presented by someone who understands the weight of that moment.

Not because people stopped caring.

Because in many communities, the volunteer honor guards who provide these final military rites are aging, shrinking, and struggling to find new members.

These men and women show up in the heat, cold, rain, and snow to make sure a veteran’s final goodbye is carried out with dignity. Many pay for their own uniforms, gear, and travel because they believe no veteran should be laid to rest without honor.

But they cannot carry this mission alone forever.

At Operation Honor Guard, we are working to support honor guards, raise awareness, recruit new members, and help ensure every eligible veteran receives the final military honors they earned.

Please share this post so more people understand what is at stake.

Because the sound of Taps should never disappear from a veteran’s funeral.

It’s a great day to sit down and send tax receipts and thank you notes to some of our donors. Without our donors, we would just be a mission statement. They are the fuel that runs this machine. 💙❤️💙❤️

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Today, we pause to remember their sacrifice, honor their courage, and reflect on the freedoms made possible because of them.

Today, we proudly honor an incredible act of patriotism and generosity from Knoxville Wholesale Furniture and owner Tim Harris. 🇺🇸

As our nation prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Tim wanted to pay tribute to the veterans who continue serving by providing final military honors for their fallen brothers and sisters. Today, he made a remarkable $10,000 donation to Operation Honor Guard.

Over the years, Tim’s generosity has now reached approximately $50,000 in cumulative support for our mission.

Because of supporters like Tim and Knoxville Wholesale Furniture, veteran honor guards across East TN can continue standing tall for those who once stood for us.

Thank you for believing in the importance of preserving dignity, tradition, and honor at military funerals across America. 🇺🇸

Today, because of your generosity on our May 6th Day of Giving, Operation Honor Guard is proud to begin mailing out more than $125,000 in grants to nearly 70 honor guards across Illinois. 🇺🇸

These donations are already going to work — helping support the men and women who provide final military honors to our nation’s veterans with dignity, respect, and gratitude.

From every envelope mailed today to every flag folded tomorrow, your support is making a real difference.

Thank you for standing with us and helping ensure our heroes are never forgotten.

One day, this could be what a military funeral looks like.

No volunteers.
No rifle salute.
No sounding of Taps.
No flag presentation delivered by someone who understands the weight of that moment because they once wore the uniform themselves.

Across the country, veteran honor guards are facing a serious decline in membership. Many of the men and women who have faithfully carried out these final military rites for decades are aging, while fewer new volunteers are stepping forward to take their place.

If nothing changes, the traditions that have honored our nation’s heroes for generations could begin to disappear.

At Operation Honor Guard, we are working to support honor guards, raise awareness, recruit new members, and help ensure every eligible veteran continues to receive the dignified farewell they earned through service to our country.

Because no veteran should leave this world without honor.

What started in 2013 as one simple idea from Founder Rich Darby — helping the men and women who serve in Honor Guards — has grown into a national mission. 🇺🇸

Today, Operation Honor Guard has helped Honor Guards in 18 states, raised nearly $4 million to support their sacred mission, and earned national recognition and endorsements from voices like Blake Shelton and Gen. David Petraeus.

From local fundraiser… to national nonprofit.
From one idea… to honoring thousands.

Because every veteran deserves to be honored with dignity, respect, and gratitude.
