CHAPTER HISTORY: Alpha Phi Omega Chapter was organized on May 31, 1931, by our Regional Director, Dr. Zenobia G. Lowe, Florence S.

This page is for the members of the Alpha Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®., and all (men and women) who support our work in our community. Gilpin in Danville, Virginia as a part of the South Atlantic Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. The following women took their vows as charter members: Lelia W. Jones, Lenora Hardy, Wallicia Saley and Clara Motley. In March of 1932, the chapter begin planning what would later become our signature program. A scholarship program was planned for a young lady graduate of the class of 1932. We now proudly present $10,000 in scholarships annually as a result of our Little Miss Fashionetta and Debutante Balls. Over the years, the chapter has grown to include a large group of women representing diverse careers. It was moved from the South Atlantic Region to the Mid-Atlantic Region in the mid 1980’s. An array of service-to-mankind projects and activities have been organized as the chapter became a beacon of light for our youth, the elderly and numerous other facets of the community, the Mid-Atlantic Region and the world.

Rhythm and Runway, R & B Brunch has officially SOLD OUT! We cannot wait to welcome everyone for an unforgettable afternoon of fashion, music, culture, and excellence.

Many may remember when Alpha Phi Omega proudly sponsored and brought the renowned Ebony Fashion Fair to Danville, Virginia, throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Today, through Rhythm & Runway, we honor the legacy and continue that tradition of service, scholarship, and community engagement.

Happy 118th Founders’ Day, Sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®!

On this special day, January 15, 1908, nine phenomenal women at Howard University lit a spark that grew into a vibrant, global sisterhood.

From Miner Hall to the world, we now stand over 360,000 strong across several nations including, the U.S., Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, UAE, Germany, Japan, Liberia, Nigeria, South Korea, South Africa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico united in purpose, service, and sisterly love.

As we continue to Soar to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood under the 2022–2026 Administration, we honor the extraordinary legacy of our Founders and celebrate the generations of women who carry their vision forward.
