So far this month, 22 pets have been adopted from DBCHS — that’s nearly 2 pets per day! 🐾

Tonight is our Kitten Café at the Boyle County Public Library, and we thought we'd give everyone a little preview of some of the adorable faces who may be in attendance. 💛

These tiny troublemakers, professional purr machines, and future lap cats are looking forward to an evening filled with cuddles, playtime, treats, and meeting potential forever families.

🐾🖤 Black Dogs Deserve Love Too 🖤🐾

If you’ve ever heard that black dogs get overlooked in shelters, unfortunately… there’s some truth to that.

For whatever reason, black dogs are often adopted more slowly than others, even though they’re just as loving, goofy, loyal, playful, cuddly, and deserving of homes as every other dog here. 💛

And right now, we have some seriously wonderful black dogs waiting for their people:

Some are energetic adventure buddies. Some are shy souls learning confidence. Some are giant cuddle bugs. Some are playful chaos gremlins in the best way possible. But every single one of them has something special to offer.

Behind every kennel door is a dog hoping someone looks past coat color and sees them. Their personality. Their heart. Their potential to become somebody’s best friend. 🐾💛

🐾🛁 Meet Draino 🛁🐾

Draino got her name honestly. This sandy-colored tabby kitten was found inside a drain pipe before making her way to the shelter. 💛

Right now, she’s still trying to decide how she feels about people… and honestly, the answer seems to be “conflicted.” 😄

Draino has perfected the art of hissing and purring at the exact same time while being held or pet. One second she’s acting like she’s deeply offended by your existence, and the next she’s absolutely melting into affection.

And if you keep gently loving on her? She eventually relaxes completely, turns into a puddle of kitten, and then cries for more attention the moment you stop. 🐱💛

She’s playful, adorable, and clearly wants connection, she’s just still learning that humans are safe after having a rough start in life. With a little patience and kindness, we think Draino is going to blossom into an incredibly affectionate companion.

🐾☕ The FRIENDS Kittens Are Here ☕🐾

Could these kittens be any cuter? 💛🐱

Meet the first adoptable members of our FRIENDS litter:

🩶 Monica — gray/tan tabby female
🩶 Phoebe — gray/tan tabby female
🧡 Chandler — orange male

They may greet you with a few tiny hisses at first, but if you give them a moment and keep the gentle pets coming, they quickly remember that affection is actually pretty nice. Beneath the nervousness are sweet little kittens who want attention — they’re just still figuring out how brave they want to be about it. 💛😄

Most of their time is currently spent doing important kitten activities like wrestling, climbing, zooming around, and causing tiny amounts of chaos together.

If you’re looking for a playful kitten and don’t mind earning their trust with a little patience and love, Monica, Phoebe, and Chandler would love to meet you. 🐾✨
