🐾💛 D'OH! It's the Bob Allen Motor Mall Pet of the Week: Homer! 💛🐾

Unlike his famous Springfield namesake, our Homer isn't interested in donuts, Duff b**r, or getting into trouble at the nuclear power plant. He's got something much simpler on his wish list: a little peace, some patience, and a family to call his own. ❤️

At just one year old, this handsome black-and-white boy is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. The hustle and bustle of shelter life can be overwhelming, and Homer sometimes needs a little time to decide whether new people are friend or foe.

But don't have a cow, man! We're seeing progress!

🐾 The great outdoors: Homer is much more relaxed outside, where he can explore without the commotion of the kennels.

❤️ Getting acquainted: He tends to warm up to men a little more quickly, but he's slowly learning to trust new faces.

🐶 His doggie friends are excellent references. Homer feels more confident when he sees other dogs interacting with people. It's almost like he's waiting for one of his buddies to say, "Don't worry, Homer. This one's cool."

Homer probably won't race into your arms the moment you meet him. But give him a little time, and you'll discover a sweet young dog who's doing his best to be brave.

He doesn't need a trip to Springfield. Homer needs a home where he can finally relax and discover just how good life can be.

And here's something even Mr. Burns couldn't put a price on: the joy of watching a shy dog learn to trust. 💛

🐾❤️ NOLA HAS DONE THE HARD WORK. NOW SHE'S READY FOR HER HAPPILY-EVER-AFTER! ❤️🐾

Meet Nola, our beautiful 2½-year-old shepherd mix who first came to DBCHS as a stray puppy in late 2024. Her journey hasn't always been easy, but she's come an INCREDIBLE distance!

Thanks to our Mutts with Manners program Nola has blossomed into a smart, affectionate, wonderfully trained companion! 🎓🐶

And she's got quite the résumé:
🏡 Housebroken with excellent house manners! She's spent extensive time living with handlers and knows her way around a home.
🦮 Great on a leash! Her training has really paid off!
❤️ Loving and loyal! She's devoted to her people, enjoys time with children, and thrives on affection.
🎾 Playful and goofy! She's past the destructive puppy stage but still full of youthful energy and personality!

Nola's ideal family will offer a predictable routine, plenty of companionship, and the love and stability she deserves.

She's spent so much time preparing to be someone's best friend. Isn't it time she finally got to be one? 🏡💕

💙🐾 LESLIE HAS THE EYES OF AN ANGEL AND A HEART WORTH WAITING FOR! 🐾💙

Meet Leslie, our handsome 2-year-old mixed-breed boy with beautiful light brown fur and striking icy-blue eyes! ❤️

Leslie hasn't had the easiest start. He came to DBCHS as a stray after being found running along a busy road in scorching 100-degree heat. Underweight and struggling with skin issues, he needed some serious TLC.

Thankfully, he's on the mend! 🥹

Shelter life can still be overwhelming for Leslie. He's cautious around unfamiliar people and situations, but give him a little patience and watch what happens!

Once Leslie feels safe, he transforms into an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to love and be loved. 🥰

Leslie is looking for a patient family who will give him time to build confidence, a soft bed to call his own, and all the love he's been missing.

🏡 He may take a little longer to trust, but he's absolutely worth the wait!

🪨🐾 STONE IS SOLID PROOF TO LOOK PAST THE LABEL! ❤️🐾

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month, and today we're shining the spotlight on one of our favorite pittie mixes: STONE! 🥰

Stone is a handsome 2-year-old, 55-pound boy with a BIG personality and an even BIGGER appetite for affection!

This lovable goofball is friendly, outgoing, and an absolute cuddle champion. He adores people and is always happy to soak up some love! ❤️

🐶 Dog-friendly! Stone enjoys canine company and has had a blast in our shelter playgroups!
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Great with kids! He's lived with children and has shown himself to be a wonderful family companion.
🥰 Certified cuddlebug! If there's affection to be had, Stone wants in!

Stone does, however, have a strong prey drive, so he needs a cat-free home and appropriate supervision around small animals.

Stone is a wonderful reminder that every dog is an individual, with their own personality, strengths, and needs. And this boy has SO much love to give!

At approximately 9 years old, this handsome black-coated gentleman has earned his senior status, but don't tell HIM that! Axel is still full of energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of personality!

He's smart, affectionate, and absolutely LOVES spending time with people. And if you've got treats? Well, you've just made yourself a very good friend! 🦴

Axel is a clever boy who knows tricks and has made wonderful progress with his manners. He's proof that older dogs still have plenty to learn, plenty to do, and most importantly, PLENTY of love left to give! 🥹

And while puppies get lots of attention, Axel would like to remind everyone that adopting a senior comes with some pretty great perks. You get a dog with an established personality, a lifetime of experience, and a whole lot of appreciation for the comforts of home.
