Through the years, the Danville community has it made it possible for The Good Samaritan Mission to help our neighbors in need. For 26 years through its various programs, The Good Samaritan Mission in Danville, has helped thousands of people in Montour County and the Danville Area School District. We provide clothing, food for kids, beds for kids, hygiene products, financial assistance, and adult
education workshops free of charge. Our Board of Directors approved an empowering youth program called The Bigger Opportunities Program. The Bigger Opportunities Program’s main goal is to ensure that at-risk youth we help today will be the ones breaking or preventing the cycle of generational poverty tomorrow. We believe that education holds the key to a better future and that every young mind should be allowed to dream big no matter their background. Low income families often can’t afford paying for extracurricular activities that help kids being well rounded. These families can’t afford college credits in high school or attending vocational training while in school. The impact and repercussion of these activities in children’s lives are huge. They will save the student time and money in the long run, teach skills for future jobs, and many times help the student decide what path to follow after High School. SERVICES
We want to be a source of hope to those students in a disadvantaged situation and be part of their journey of having a career and a better life. Referrals: Professional services and programs in our network of partnerships. Information: Awareness to the community about the importance of education for a better life and involvement in the community through volunteerism and service. Financial Aid for Education:

STUDENTS
The Bigger Opportunities Program serves students in the Danville Area School District, Montour County and Columbia Montour VoTech. High School students planning on pursuing training in technical careers, apprenticeships, college and university undergraduate degrees after graduation are encouraged to schedule a meeting with their school’s guidance counselor to obtain additional information. Middle School students considering a path to follow in high school are encourage to apply early for guidance. An important portion of the assistance given will depend on school performance and community involvement. Funds are available for other qualified enrichment activities. Elementary School students often participate in extracurricular activities that are very important to the child’s social development. There are some funds to cover fees and registrations for qualified activities. PARENTS
“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents” Jane D. Hull
Families enrolled in The Bigger Opportunities Program will find themselves playing the most important part. Hard work from students in both academic and community service and involvement from parents, working together to reach a goal. Let us be part of this important journey for a better future. *
