Another great day in Charlottesville with the Garden Club of Virginia! We toured Thomas Jefferson’s Tufton Farm. The Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants was established at Monticello in 1986. The center “collects, preserves and distributes historic and native plant varieties and strives to promote greater appreciation for the origins and evolution of garden plants in a beautiful garden setting at Jefferson’s Tufton Farm.”
We enjoyed a special farm tour by Curator of Plants Peggy Cornett. She is also a GCV Honorary Member and Rivanna Garden Club Member. Some members purchased signed copies of her book, Thomas Jefferson’s Flowers!
We were lucky enough to visit during a plant sale. Some members purchased carloads of plants! After we left Tufton we enjoyed our delicious boxed lunches at the Monticello Cafe. Many thanks to the GCV Horticulture Committee for a fabulous event!

Bluebird Box Watch Update from Brenda Rowland:
🪺Excited to report that for 2026 we have a second clutch of bluebird eggs in our bluebird nesting box at Old Grove Street Cemetery. This is the nesting box the garden club placed at the cemetery (Feb 2025) in memory of Vickie Fuquay.

The Club Presidents gathered today for GCV Presidents Day at the Kent-Valentine House! We were welcomed by new GCV President Jennifer Kelley! The GCV Staff, Officers, Directors At Large and Committee Chairmen gave us valuable insights into the operations of the Garden Club of Virginia. We celebrated the record breaking HGW 2026 Tour! After a delicious lunch we enjoyed small group round table discussions. There’s nothing better than having an in person meeting at the Kent Valentine House! We returned home with new ideas, new friends and enthusiasm for the 2026-2027 year!!!

Good Morning Danville! We had a wonderful time this morning in the Perkinson Rose Garden. After a week of much needed rain we were excited to get back in the Garden! Many thanks to our fearless leader Anne Foster for organizing the workday and providing supplies. We worked a little over an hour and had over 15 members participate. We always have so much fun together! The Perkinson Rose Garden is open to the public and a great place to take photos or simply relax and enjoy nature. 🌹☀️👒
