A proud moment for GJUAF!

We are delighted to share that our President, Dr. Ranjit Chakravorti ('61, Chemical Engineering), and Vice President, Dr. Souvik Bhattacharyya ('81, Mechanical Engineering), have been selected as recipients of the Distinguished Alumni – Jadavpur University Award 2026.

Dr. Chakravorti has been recognized in the category of Public Life and Philanthropy, while Dr. Bhattacharyya has been honored for his contributions to Academia and Research.

Jadavpur University has announced 10 distinguished alumni as the inaugural recipients of these awards, which will be formally conferred at the University's Convocation in December 2026. Earlier this year, the University's Executive Council decided to institute the Distinguished Alumni Awards as an annual recognition, beginning in 2026.

For GJUAF, this recognition is particularly special. We are immensely proud to see two of our leaders—whose contributions reflect the values, excellence, and spirit of Jadavpur University—among the very first alumni to receive this honor.

Congratulations, Dr. Chakravorti and Dr. Bhattacharyya! We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition with you.

A Historic Milestone for Jadavpur University

We sincerely appreciate the Governments of India and West Bengal for this visionary investment in higher education, and commend our Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, for his dedicated efforts in helping make this long-cherished dream a reality.

Admissions are now open for the Post Graduation Certificate Course in Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Technologies at Jadavpur University in collaboration with Global Jadavpur University Alumni Foundation [GJUAF].
As industries across the world move toward sustainable manufacturing and stricter environmental compliance, expertise in Zero Liquid Discharge systems is becoming increasingly valuable across sectors including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power, textiles, food processing, and advanced manufacturing.
This program has been designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial application through intensive classroom instruction, industry exposure, and hands-on training with leading industries.

Applications are invited for the recruitment of One Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for PhD research work sponsored by Global Jadavpur University Alumni Foundation (GJUAF) under the initiative of the Integrated Circuits Centre of Excellence (IC-CoE) at the Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Jadavpur University.
The fellowship will be instituted in the name of Dr. Dilip Paul (‘61, ETCE Department). This prestigious opportunity is sponsored through Global Jadavpur University Alumni Foundation (GJUAF) in memory of Dr. Dilip Paul, a 1961 ETCE alumnus of JU, by his wife, Dr. Alaka Paul from San Francisco, USA.
🔹 Fellowship: ₹40,000 per month

On April 07, 2026, Directors of the Global Jadavpur University Alumni Foundation (GJUAF), Ms Sreeja Das (Seattle, USA) and Mr Nilangshu Dey (Qatar), visited key GJUAF-supported initiatives at Jadavpur University.

Mr Dey (ETCE alumnus) and Ms Das (CSE alumna) were accompanied by Dr Asim Ray (Chemical Engineering alumnus), Director and VP – Project Implementation, and Ms Alokeparna Ghosh, Administrative Manager, GJUAF.

The team held a productive meeting with the ETCE Integrated Circuits Centre of Excellence, engaging with Prof Sayan Chatterjee (Coordinator) and Prof Sheli Sinha Choudhury. They also visited the VLSI Lab supported by GJUAF.

In addition, the team visited the University Innovation Council (IIC). GJUAF is considering a potential collaborative Startup Assistance Program, where alumni would provide mentorship to selected student startups based on merit, with GJUAF supporting key infrastructure, including tinkering lab equipment and seed funding.

These engagements reflect GJUAF’s continued commitment to strengthening innovation ecosystems and enabling meaningful alumni-driven impact at Jadavpur University.

🏆 AQUEST 2026 – A Journey of Excellence

The students of the ISHRAE JU Students’ Chapter have scripted an extraordinary success story in the AQUEST competition—starting from Kolkata and culminating in a national championship!

From sweeping the Kolkata Chapter Round podium to dominating the Quarter Finals at JU, excelling in the Semifinals at Chennai, and finally shining at the Grand Finals in Mumbai—their journey has been nothing short of phenomenal.

Innovation Excellence at Bajaj Auto

More good news!

Anirban Sarkar, Sharanyo Pramanik, and Souradeep Basu (Mechanical UG IV) achieved 1st Runner-Up at a prestigious All India Innovation Challenge by Bajaj Auto held at Pune.

Competing against top institutions including IITs and NITs, their achievement stands out as a testament to JU’s innovation culture.

Challenge:
Design a cost-effective hybrid braking system for a two-wheeler—more efficient than drum brakes and more affordable than hydraulic discs.

Their performance reflects strong technical depth and hands-on experience, honed through their work with the JU Motorsports Club.

These achievements remind us—when we support our students in constructive, innovative pursuits, excellence naturally follows.
