We have several upcoming meetings:
*June 2, 2026 - Planning Meeting at Ila Restaurant, 11AM. While all are welcome, officers and committee chairpersons and members need to attend.
*August 27, 2026 - Area 17/18 Meeting at the Gainesville Civic Center. Please contact Beth Thornton by July 30 if you plan to attend.
*September 8, 2026 - MCREA meeting at Ila Restaurant, 11AM.

Several MCREA members attended the state GREA Convention in May. We welcomed our new President, Dr. Sallie Mills. The new theme is "Sound the Trumpet!" and the Presidents Charity is the American Diabetes Association.

Congratulations Lydia Herndon and Brooklyn Higgins, 2026 MCREA Scholarship recipients. Both plan to attend UGA this fall. Lydia is pursuing a degree in Art Education and Brooklyn will work on a double major in English and English Education.

Good luck to both ladies as they pursue their goal to become teachers.

Congratulations to all the Madison County Elementary essay contest winners!

Fifth graders were asked to write about something a grandparent had taught them or something they had taught their grandparent. Members of MCREA enjoyed reading the essays. We look forward to next years contest!

- recognize our 2026 MCHS Scholarship recipients
- be presented with a GREA Convention report
- install officers for 2026 - 2027

Our May service project is the Madison County Food Bank. Bring non perishable food items or a monetary donation.
