Not quite a world record, but pretty darn close. This Idaho whopper is so large it has its own gravitational field, and required all the strength of mom and daughter volunteer team Dana and Ivy to hold up for the photo op. If you pop it in the oven to bake right now, it might be ready by next week 🙂.

We are deeply honored and very excited to have been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture to purchase CT-grown food directly from local farmers. We will work with our existing farm partners to source this food, but we also want to reach out to as many other CT producers as possible. April 1 is International Toast Day, so what better time to introduce the new Daily Bread toaster. Each perfectly-browned slice is gently “branded” with the Daily Bread logo, so you can show your support for the pantry every morning. Designed using the more free-wheeling approach to electrical safety fashionable in the 1930s, this retro classic comes complete with a pre-frayed cord and no ground protection whatsoever. With the Daily Bread toaster, you may not need that hi-test coffee to jolt you awake! Not recommended for children under 5 or adults with pacemakers.

Yesterday was the Connecticut Odyssey of the Mind (CTOM) tournament at Bethel Middle School. Odyssey of the Mind teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. As a side hustle, one extra problem they solved was collecting food for Daily Bread. Saturdays have a different vibe at the pantry, partly because parents are volunteering with kids, and older students are taking time from their weekend to give back to the community.
