I was a high school dropout. Before returning for my GED then later a bachelors in Broadcasting. I’ve since started a non-profit from the ground up, written a book, became an entrepreneur and I’ve traveled the country as a speaker.

The biggest lesson I learned from that was… You can be your greatest enemy to your destiny. That’s why I started The Bridge Urban Youth Mentoring Program in Danbury. Because no youth should choose failure as a result of not knowing any better options.

I want to mentor your preteens, meet us on the green EVERY Tuesday at 6 pm. I promise you, they will NOT come back home the same.

Rev. Brandon Whitfield founded The Bridge Urban Youth Mentoring Program because he knows firsthand what it’s like to grow up with a disadvantage.

Each week a group of passionate mentors lead The Bridge in a “Boardroom Style” meeting where the youth essentially create and develop the overall program.

Tonight we were PROUD to see a portion of The Bridge Mentoring advocating at Danbury City Hall for better education and more funding. Imagine the joy I had to see MY MENTOR Junior verbalizing his concern over the microphone. It was also encouraging to see Roberto Alves Danbury NAACP and State Senator Julie Kushner in attendance.

Hey 👋🏾

I’m Brandon Whitfield, I was given up by both parents then raised in a single-parent home by my great aunt then sent to foster care where I experienced abuse for the first time. I was expelled from all public schools and eventually dropped out of school in the 11th grade… WHO DOES THAT?

That was my story until I changed the narrative. I went back to school and became the first in my immediate family to receive a degree. Since then I’ve become an author, I own a local business, and I’ve founded and lead a successful non-profit. I started The Bridge Mentorship because I know firsthand the impact of a passionate mentor. Each week I spend an hour with inner-city urban youth from my Danbury and expose them to the principles that changed my life, Christ, positive role models, a hot meal, life skills, and dream bigger than your local borders. I see some of our kids walking in with designer clothes and some I see packing dinner to go back home with them and share with their family. Both sides find value in the program.

Consider sponsoring a kid or the overall program. There is no better place to support than one where your dollars are not stretched by administrative fees and salaries and never leave our city. Message me for details.

This was tonight’s lesson. As our mentees gathered from Danbury and surrounding cities we all left with a better sense of how IMPORTANT strategy is if you want to be successful in anything you must master STRATEGY.

The Bridge is Danbury’s newest mentorship program and we are growing by leaps and bounds. Serving inner-city youth both boys and girls ages 8-15. Our motto is TOUCHING TOMORROW TODAY.
