Part 2 of answering the question:
How is Coaching/Facilitating different than my horsemanship Training & teaching?
• An EAL personal development coach:
* Holds the space for people to be vulnerable
* Helps the human navigate a relationship with horses
* Suspends their own beliefs and expected outcomes
* Supports humans in exploring their strengths and assets
* Remains neutral and open so they can observe objectively
* Co-creates goals
* Supports them in recognizing and finding solutions to overcoming barriers
* Helps clients to build on their strengths
* Helps discover their motivation
* Helps them define a vision for their life
An EAL coach does this by:
* Listening more than speaking
* Reflecting and asking open-ended questions with curiosity
* Assuming positive intent- always
* By being curious
* Guiding the process but not interfering in it
* Helping the client define their personal values
* Assisting the client to find solutions and strategies to solve their problems and better their life
* Holding the client accountable to the goals they set
An EAL personal development coach does NOT:
* Judge the client's action
* Celebrate FOR the client
* Process past emotions or recount traumatic events from the client's life
* Give advice, or tell the client what or how they should do something
* Steer the client toward the lesson the coach thinks the client should learn
* Make the client feel guilty or shame them
* Interfere in the relationship between the client or the horse unless the client is in danger
