Hands and Feet Ministries-Damascus, VA We believe internal change produces external change. When Jesus Christ comes in, desires, actions and goals change.

We are a jail & prison ministry based in Damascus, VA; we serve offenders in East TN & Southwest VA; we also assist returning citizens with re-entry within a year of release. We exist to prepare inmates to live productive lives while incarcerated as well as upon their release, by helping them recover from the strongholds and dysfunction that created such chaos in their lives before their incarcera

tion, and we know that by helping the inmates, we help their families, especially their children. We work with a coalition of providers to assist released inmates so they can be law-abiding citizens instead of repeat offenders as evidenced by documented and invested partners/resources.

This event brings together community leaders, professionals, advocates, individuals with lived experience, and neighbors who share a commitment to strengthening recovery, fostering resilience, and creating healthier communities across our region.

Each year, Reviving Hope in Our Backyard serves as a reminder that hope grows when people come together with purpose, compassion, and a shared vision for the future.

Thank you Jesus!

I came across this old photo recently — me at age 11, sitting on a beach, my name airbrushed across the front of my sweatshirt like it was the only thing I was sure of. The sun was bright, the ocean was behind me, and my whole life was still unwritten, waiting.

Looking at that boy now, I know things he didn’t. I know that his mother — my mom — was in the thick of what would become seven marriages and seven divorces, a wild and unsteady ride that filled his young life with more uncertainty than any child should carry.

I know that his only real dream back then was to grow up and become a professional cartoonist, pen in hand, chasing something that felt solid in a world that wasn’t.

But I also know something young Greg couldn’t have known: God’s hand was already on him. Quietly. Patiently. Even in the chaos.

Six years after that photo was taken, I would sit on the front lawn of my high school, and for the first time, hear the life-changing message of the Gospel. And in that moment, everything shifted. I discovered that God had a plan for my life all along — one I never could have written for myself, and one far better than anything I’d imagined on that beach.

Here’s what I want you to know: God’s plans for you are better than any plans you have for yourself. Even in your uncertainty. Even in your chaos. Even when you can’t see six years down the road.

God says it best:
“I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord. Thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11

❤️ One of the sweetest things we get to do at the prison is help with “One Day with God” where the fathers get to dance with their daughters. It changes their lives.
