Last week, UCC had the greatest honor to represent Uzbek community in celebration of Navruz at San Francisco City Hall
Walking through City Hall and seeing our culture celebrated in such a historic American space was a moment of pure pride. Hearing Mayor Daniel Lurie speak so warmly about Navruz and the diverse communities that celebrate it felt like a true milestone for us. Seeing our traditions, our music, and our heritage shared alongside our Turkish, Kazakh and Azerbaijani brothers and sisters in the heart of SF was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come. There’s a unique kind of pride in being an immigrant and realizing that our cultural roots don’t just exist in our homes, they belong on the grandest stages of this country, too.
A massive thank you to for providing the incredible, delicious food that allowed everyone to get a real taste of our culture. We also want to give a special shoutout to our amazing community members who donated traditional Norin, Halvaitar and Bichak. We couldn’t have showcased our hospitality so beautifully without all your generosity!
We are so proud to live in a city that opens its doors to our holidays and honors our spirit. This wasn’t just a celebration; it was a moment where we felt seen, respected, and truly at home🇺🇸🇺🇿
