As part of the Justice for Filipino Caregivers campaign, Migrante Daly City, Gabriela Daly City, and Anakbayan at Skyline College held a talakayan on Friday, March 27 to learn from caregivers about the exploitative conditions they face, its impacts on their health and safety, and the importance of organizing others to fight for the rights, dignity and livelihood of Filipino migrant workers.

Hear from a panel of workers to learn about the issues that caregivers face, and join us in conversation about the necessary fight for health, safety, and dignity in a job where caring for others often means experiencing exploitation.

GABRIELA Daly City celebrates the people’s win to repatriate the body of Kuya Rodel to the Philippines after being indiscriminately denied by the San Francisco Philippine Consulate as an undocumented migrant.

On March 19, 2026, the SF Philippine Consulate denied Rodel’s family’s request for repatriation due to not having sufficient paperwork to prove his Filipino citizenship, despite him owning a Philippine passport. The consulate required a permanent resident card or dual Philippine dual citizenship, which do not indicate Philippine citizenship, but only indicate legal status in the United States; this shows that the Philippine Consulate is institutionalizing discrimination against undocumented migrants.

On March 23, 2026, more than 60 community members mobilized to the SF Philippine Consulate to demand them to expedite Rodel’s repatriation to fly out by March 30 so that he can be laid to rest, which was later approved.

While we celebrate the repatriation of Kuya Rodel’s body, we also call for the SF PH Consulate to be held accountable for discriminating against undocumented migrants and creating unnecessary barriers for Kuya Rodel’s family to respect his final wishes.

In honor of International Working Women’s Day (IWWD) on March 8, join GABRIELA Daly City for a community craft fundraiser and education session at Kapwa Kultural Center🧵🎨👩‍🎨🖌️🧶 Bring your creativity, work-in-progress crafts, and your friends and family to learn more about the current situation of women in the Philippines and how we overseas can help through campaigns like Bayanihan Disaster Response and the Justice for Filipino Caregivers campaign. We highly encourage a sliding scale entrance donation of $5-10 which will go to our campaigns, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

This IWWD, GAB Daly City invites folks to learn more about the true conditions of Filipino women, especially the most exploited and vulnerable classes of workers and peasants. As Marcos Jr. heads to New York for the UN Commission on the Status of Women this week, we denounce him as a representative of the interests of Filipino women! While Marcos benefits from government corruption and rubs shoulders with leaders of imperialist countries like the US, Filipino women struggle to receive basic living wages to provide for their families and endure violence at the hands of the US military and AFP. We believe that true liberation of women will come from Filipino women themselves, and call for the solution of national democracy with a socialist perspective!💜❤️‍🔥

Leading up to International Migrants Day, GABRIELA Daly City held an open mic and art build on December 7 to share about our campaigns and the fights that migrants are waging for their rights, dignity, and safety amidst increasing attacks on migrants by the Trump administration.

In particular, we discussed the fight of Kuya G, who was detained at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, WA. We firmly condemn the inhumane deportation order of Kuya G, who is suffering from harsh medical conditions including ulcerative colitis, symptoms of pulmonary embolism, and an unhealed amputation. Despite being in no condition to travel, Kuya G is set to be deported today on December 7.

Though we welcome Kuya G getting off the plane after being deemed medically unfit to travel, we denounce the San Francisco Philippine Consulate’s utter neglect and abandonment of Kuya G despite the many cries for assistance.

GABRIELA Daly City calls for Assistance to Nationals Officer Bernice Santayana to resign and for Consulate officials to be held accountable! We also call for Kuya G to receive the medical care that he desperately needs, and for his freedom!

FREE KUYA G! JUSTICE FOR KUYA G!
Stop the Deportation!
ATN Officer Bernice, Resign!
Proteksyon, Hindi Deportasyon!

YOGA FOR THE COLLECTIVE IS BACK!!!

Come out to a yoga class and campaign discussion led by one of our GAB Daly City members🧘‍♀️🧘🧘‍♂️ After a heart opening flow, GAB Daly City members will share about the different campaigns we’re taking up and how you can get involved to confront the issues our kababayan face both here and in the Philippines.

This will also be a fundraiser for Bayanihan Disaster Response! Bring $10-20 as your entrance fee to the class to support NAFCON’s relief efforts, and maybe a bit extra for some IGPs😉 With the devastation from Typhoons Tino and Uwan worsened by the corrupt system of bureaucrat capitalism, we must come together to organize for a Philippines that is free of corruption and foreign interests.
