The O.N. Jonas Foundation

The O.N. Jonas Foundation The Foundation's primary focus is the support of an in-school residency program which annually place Oscar N.

Education does not develop our children's full potential unless it includes art. The O.N.Jonas Foundation is fully committed to achieving this goal! In-school residency programs jump start the development of a student's artistic understanding, judgements, feelings and communication skills. The Jonas Foundation is the only area organization that totally concentrates it efforts to bring arts residen

cies into area school systems at no cost to the child. Jonas was a noted carpet pioneer and community leader in Dalton, Georgia. Oscar and his wife, Peggy, were advocates of the arts and among the founders of the Creative Arts Guild. At the time of his death, Oscar served as president-treasurer of the Creative Arts Guild. On July 25, 1968, within days of Oscar's untimely death of a heart attack, Peggy and his friends united with business, civic, and educational leaders to create the Oscar N. Jonas Memorial Foundation to perpetuate Oscar’s desire to enrich the lives of people in northwest Georgia through the performance and visual arts. After almost 50 years of serving area children, the Foundation still honors Oscar and Peggy's vision by sponsoring performing and visual artists in our schools and promoting an integrated arts curriculum.
