This recognition reflects the real impact of investing in connectivity, creating spaces that improve how people move, gather and experience Dallas every day. It shows what’s possible when public, private and community partners come together around a shared vision.

We’re deeply grateful to Christine and Chris Cook for their extraordinary gift to The Loop Dallas.

As a dedicated cyclist, Chris understands firsthand how important safe, connected trails are for our city. The Cooks’ generosity moves this 50-mile active transportation system closer to completion—bringing neighborhoods together, expanding access to green space and creating safer places for people to walk, ride and connect.

We’re excited to announce that The Loop Dallas: Trinity Forest Spine Trail (phase II) has been selected as a finalist in the ’s 2026 Best Real Estate Deal Awards!

This $34M project is more than a trail—it’s a transformative investment in Southeast Dallas. By rebuilding the Lake June Road bridge and adding a mile of elevated trail along US-175, we’ve replaced a deteriorating barrier with a safer, modern connection for Pleasant Grove and Pemberton Hill.

Why it’s a game-changer:

While walking on the Katy Trail () I was reflecting on my dating life. Thinking about how we had lost the art of meeting in person and everyone relied so heavily on the dating apps. This thought led me to looking around and realizing that there were so many people doing the exact same thing that I was, but none of us were talking to one another. That’s when the idea hit me. We need to find a way to connect singles by doing something we are all already doing: walking the trail. So in June 2025, The Date-Y Trail was born.

My name is Abbey Hagan (), I’m the founder of and this is My Dallas Trail Story.

I posted the idea on my social media and to my surprise, it went completely viral and a couple of weeks later, we had our first event! At 6 o’clock people started coming to the trail to grab their red wristband and head on their walk. The goal was very simple: walk the trail, spot a fellow red wristband and begin mingling.

The hope was that having this event would take the stress out of approaching someone since everyone was there for the same reason. It was a low-pressure, safe and fun environment! A chance to meet someone off the apps, an unheard of “meet cute” in 2025.

Datey was the happiest accident I’ve ever had. No marketing experience, no event-planning experience, it started with a pure intention and that is how it still operates today. I always say that Datey is a way to find a crush, meet new friends and step out of your comfort zone!

I beam with pride every single event knowing that these people purchased a ticket and are putting themselves out there because they want to meet someone too.

None of this would have happened without that solo walk I took in June. Since that first event, we have now rebranded to simple Datey. However the trail is still very much a part of the history of the company. It is what people still know us for and I can’t help but feel that every single time I’m walking on the trail.

Dallas’ trail system does more than connect parks and neighborhoods, it connects people. For me, the trail gave me the idea of Datey, something that has completely changed my life.

🚆✨ Big things are coming to The Loop Dallas at SMU/Mockingbird Station!

Last week, DART () and Trammell Crow Company celebrated the groundbreaking of a transformational new transit-oriented development — bringing new housing, a hotel, office space and a 500-space underground parking garage to one of Dallas’ most connected mobility hubs.

Projects like this are exactly what happens when transit, trails and community investment come together — supported by key partnerships with DART, the City of Dallas and the City’s Transit-Oriented Development TIF District.

With the University Crossing + Ridgewood trails right there, this shows that people want more activated stations, walkable neighborhoods and a more connected Dallas. 🌿🚶‍♀️🚲

We’re excited to see this project break ground. It’s a privilege to work alongside the community and the TOD TIF Board—where our Executive Director Philip Haigh serves to move these transformational projects forward.

✨ We’re proud to share: The Trinity Forest Spine Trail (phase II) has been selected as a finalist for D CEO’s () 2026 Commercial Real Estate Awards in the Community Impact category!

This honor recognizes one of the biggest infrastructure investments in a generation for Pleasant Grove — and the collaborative effort to build a more connected, walkable, bikeable and equitable Dallas.

This new bridge and elevated trail will take people easily and safely between the Lake June DART () Station and the Trinity River Audubon Center — connecting neighborhoods to parks, transit and opportunity. We’re ready to celebrate with residents this spring at the official opening!

This milestone is possible because of the vital partnership of TxDOT (), the City of Dallas, Dallas Park and Recreation (), and the civic, philanthropic and community champions who have helped bring The Loop Dallas to life.

Calling all bikers! Exciting trail work is officially underway at Creekside Park.

The Loop Dallas has partnered with to refresh and expand the mountain bike trails along the Trinity Forest Spine Trail (phase I). The project includes a full revamp of the existing singletrack, with significant trail reshaping to improve flow, durability and drainage—making for a smoother, more fun ride.

The updated network will introduce new features and additional mileage, while also creating a purpose-built space for the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) teams to train and practice. These improvements are designed to support skill development, safety and long-term sustainability for riders of all levels.

This marks the beginning of an exciting partnership and step forward for world-class trail infrastructure, youth cycling and outdoor access in Dallas. More to come as the work progresses! 🚵‍♂️

Hard hats: on ✔️👷‍♂️. Some members of our Board of Directors and team recently toured The Loop Plaza construction site at Victory Avenue and N. Houston Street to see the vision becoming reality!

As bridge piers and retaining walls take shape, we’ve also been looking ahead to the placement of permanent donor recognition signage—thoughtfully designed to integrate harmoniously into the surrounding infrastructure while honoring the incredible support that’s helping bring this project to life.

Powered by the Addy Foundation and designed by TBG Partners (), The Loop Plaza will be a vital connection in our trail system and a welcoming gathering space, bringing people together and providing a seamless, accessible pathway between the Katy Trail, Victory Park, the Design District and the Trinity Strand Trail via the Hi Line Connector. This groundbreaking project advances regional mobility in one of Dallas’ most dynamic areas.

A lasting investment in connection, community and the future of our city is on the way. We can’t wait to welcome you later this year—stay tuned!

What was once a barrier is becoming a connection. 💫

The Trinity Forest Spine Trail (phase II) is nearly complete, and the impact is already visible. We were recently on site with to see the transformation firsthand.

The one-mile elevated segment and the newly opened Lake June bridge now offer the first, safer pedestrian and bike access across the highway between the DART station and the Pemberton Hill neighborhood.

Built through a landmark partnership with TxDOT and the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, the former Lake June bridge—once narrow, crumbling, and unsafe—has been replaced with protected bike lanes, pedestrian walkways and direct access to The Loop Dallas trail network.

For years, this crossing was the only route to groceries, school and work, often just inches from speeding traffic. Now, it’s part of a 9-mile trail that will connect White Rock Lake, the Great Trinity Forest and the AT&T Trail—bringing opportunity, recreation and mobility closer to home.

We’re excited for the official opening this spring and to see safer, community-first, climate-resilient and accessible infrastructure come to life for all residents.

The Loop Dallas is connecting our city, north, south, east, and west—and the Trinity Forest Spine Trail is showing what’s possible.🚶🚴 🌱
