The red beads remind them why the work is hard.
The blue beads remind them why they can’t quit.

To most people, they’re just beads in a jar.

To the investigators who dedicate their lives to protecting children, they represent the reality they face every day.

Every red bead represents an offender identified through relentless investigations.

Every blue bead represents a child who has been rescued or identified because someone refused to give up.

The blue beads still waiting to be added represent the children who are still out there, waiting for someone to find them.

That’s why the Guardian Retreat exists.

Not to take our Guardians out of the fight, but to help them heal so they can stay in it. Because every investigator who finds the strength to keep going gives another child the chance to be found.

Hope isn’t measured by the darkness we face. It’s measured by the lives we continue to save.

The people who protect children carry a weight most of us will never understand.

Every day, detectives, analysts, prosecutors, and ICAC professionals are exposed to the darkest parts of humanity in pursuit of justice for innocent children.

Our Guardian Retreat exists for them.

It's a place to step away from the fight, find encouragement, get tools to support their physical and mental well being, build lasting relationships with others who understand, and begin to heal, so they can return stronger to the work that matters most.

If we're going to protect children, we also have to care for those on the front lines.

Behind every child protected is an investigator carrying the weight of what they’ve seen.

This year, 30 child protection professionals are expected to attend our two remaining Guardian Retreats a place where they can step away from the trauma of child exploitation investigations, begin healing, and return stronger to their families, agencies, and the children they serve.

Internet Safety Month may be coming to an end, but protecting our children is a year round responsibility.

The most important thing you can do isn’t installing another app it’s having regular, honest conversations with your child.

Know who they’re talking to. Ask about the games they play, the apps they use, and what they’re experiencing online. Create a home where they know they can come to you without fear or judgment.

The internet changes every day. Your conversations should too.

This Internet Safety Month, don’t let awareness end here. Keep talking. Keep listening. Keep protecting.

Today is PTSD Awareness Day. When people think about trauma in child exploitation cases, they often think of the investigator reviewing the evidence. But the impact reaches much further.

It affects the forensic interviewer sitting across from a child as they share the worst moments of their life. It affects the prosecutor who must repeatedly present that evidence in court. It affects analysts, victim advocates, and even jurors who are exposed to the realities of these crimes.

One offender’s actions create a ripple effect that touches countless lives.

Day after day, these professionals carry the weight of protecting children while absorbing the trauma that comes with the work. Too often, they do it silently.

That is why PCI created the Guardian Retreat to provide those on the front lines with the tools, support, and restoration they need to continue the mission without sacrificing themselves in the process.

Seven arrests. One united mission to protect children.

Operation Fool’s End demonstrates what is possible when agencies work together to protect children from online exploitation.

Led by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the operation brought together the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Tallahassee Police Department, the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the North Florida ICAC Task Force, and Protecting Children’s Innocence Task Force (PCI).

Together, these agencies arrested seven individuals accused of targeting children online, including suspects who continued sexually explicit conversations after being told they were communicating with a child.

PCI is honored to support our law enforcement partners by providing resources that strengthen investigations, help identify victims, and build stronger cases against those who exploit children.

THE BIGGEST MYTH ABOUT CHILD PREDATORS? 👇🏼

That they look dangerous.
That they stand out.
That they're strangers lurking in the shadows.

The reality is far more uncomfortable.
Most children who experience sexual abuse know the person responsible.

They may be a family member, family friend, coach, teacher, mentor, neighbor, volunteer, or another trusted adult already woven into the child's life.

Predators rarely force their way into a child's world.

They earn access through trust.
They build relationships.
They create opportunities.
They test boundaries.
And often, they do it in plain sight.

Protecting children requires more than teaching "stranger danger." It requires understanding how grooming works, recognizing warning signs, and being willing to challenge assumptions about who may pose a risk.

Because awareness is one of the most powerful tools we have.

The most vulnerable child isn’t always the one standing alone on a street corner.

Sometimes it’s the honor roll student.
The kid on the soccer team.
The child laughing with friends.
The one scrolling alone in their bedroom at midnight.

Predators don’t look for bad kids.

They look for loneliness.
Trauma.
Curiosity.
Insecurity.
A child who just wants someone to listen.

The greatest threat to our children today isn’t lurking in a parked van.

It’s hiding behind a screen, pretending to be a friend.

Every child in these images has one thing in common: they are looking for connection. And predators know exactly how to exploit that need.

Pay attention to the signs.
Ask the hard questions.
Create a home where your child can tell you anything.
Be the trusted adult they run to not the one they’re afraid to talk to.

Because the difference between a child becoming a victim and a child staying safe may be one conversation.
