Peak's Addition

Peak's Addition Peak's Addition is an East Dallas neighborhood featuring historic homes with unique architecture built in the early 1900's.

Peak’s Suburban Addition Historic District is an eclectic collection of late 19th- and early 20th- century houses that reflects the suburban expansion of Dallas from its postbellum railroad boom to its subsequent emergence as the commercial and transportation center of North Texas. The district lies within the boundaries of the old city of East Dallas—a separate municipality incorporated between 1

882 and 1889— that developed around the railroad depot approximately two miles east of the Dallas County Courthouse. Comprising roughly 22 city blocks, it is one of the few relatively unaltered pockets of historic buildings remaining in Old East Dallas. The district was once part of a plantation settled by Mexican War veteran Jefferson Peak who became a pioneer in Dallas real estate development. In anticipation of suburban expansion in the far eastern sector of East Dallas, Jefferson Peak and his son, Junius, subdivided the family plantation into 16 blocks, portions of which were sold as Peak’s Suburban Addition beginning in 1879. Streets were named after the Peak children: Worth, Carroll, Junius, Victor and Flora. Junius Peak’s own house, built just before the turn of the century, still stands at 4409 Worth Street. Peak’s Suburban Addition is a microcosm of Dallas’ residential architecture from the 1890s through the 1930s, with styles ranging from late Queen Anne, Tudor Revival and Classical Revival to Mission Revival and Craftsman-influenced bungalows. The district also contains excellent examples of streetcar apartments from the 1920s and 30s.

Please join us on Friday, March 27 at 10 AM for the unveiling of a brand-new art project, “Natural Encounter” created just for our neighborhood dog park by artist Sujin Lim. The piece is a monumental blue dog balancing a white cloud that brings smiles to residents big and small at Crockett Park. Meet the artist and City Officials to celebrate this new, playful artwork and don’t forget to a take a selfie with the star of the day, the big dog. Dallas Animal Services will be on site with rescue dogs for adoption. The Public Art Team will provide free merchandise and light refreshments. All neighbors are welcome (two & four-legged alike) so grab a leash, bring your favorite pup, and help us celebrate this tail-wagging moment at Crockett Park.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Dallas County has made big changes affecting how and where you can vote that can be confusing so here is some helpful information on the recent changes. 1) EARLY VOTING (FEBRUARY 17-27) - County officials run early elections voters may vote at any countywide vote center. There will be two different check in lines based on political party affiliation. *Note that if there is a run-off you may only vote along the same party lines as you voted in the initial election. 2) ELECTION DAY VOTING (MARCH 3) - Election Day voting is run by the political parties and for the upcoming primary elections voters will need to go to an assigned neighborhood precinct based on political party instead of a countywide voting center. Check your voter registration card to find your specific precinct. You can also check out the links below to find additional information.

🚨Important Pre-Read for the Joint Community Meeting on February 10 📄

Ahead of Tuesday's Joint Community Meeting on safety at Willis C. Winters Park and Woodrow Wilson High School, I am sharing a public FAQ and Goals document I prepared that reflects the questions and concerns I've received since the January 22 tragedy where a student was killed in the park's parking lot.

The document I've linked to below outlines:
🔹 What the Interlocal Agreement already requires
🔹 How responsibility is defined by time and use
🔹 Permanent vs. temporary safety measures
🔹 What accountability should look like moving forward

I'm sharing this to promote transparency and preparation so community members attending the February 10 forum can arrive informed and ready for a productive discussion.

While I won't be a panelist Tuesday, my role as a Dallas Park and Recreation Board Member and very long history with this park, it's relationship with DISD, and recent events have placed me deeply in the center of this work. The content in this document reflect my independent thinking, shaped by community input, and do not represent the City of Dallas, the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, DISD, or any other agency.

Remember, an informed and engaged community leads to the outcomes we demand. Please take a few minutes to review this document before Tuesday's meeting: https://tinyurl.com/5u2ratax

If you haven't done so already, please follow the link and explore the website to learn more about what is happening and what you can do to help. City Hall belongs to all of us. Let's make sure that the loudest and most important voice is coming from the many and not the few!

The future of Dallas City Hall is too important to be decided in shady back-room dealings or on numbers no one trusts. Contact your council person today! Save Dallas City Hall!
