Our Friends spend a lot of time behind the wheel. School pickups, home visits, outings across town, all built around each kid’s schedule rather than the easiest route. Dezirae sees that time differently. “The backseat of my car is more than a transition between destinations. It’s a safe space where girls can talk, create, reflect, laugh, and grow.”

Bob Campbell and Kelly Reddell of the Horizon Outreach Fund at Saint Michael And All Angels Episcopal Church stopped by today to deliver their second year of support. Stedman had a plan for this one. He picked his boys up from school, took them to NorthPark Center, and they talked about why malls exist and what brings people to them, from needing something to wanting something to just being around other people. Then a snack at Chick-fil-A while both boys worked through their literacy assessments. Each one went home with a self-soothing toy, earned for the focus they brought to the whole afternoon.

Remember what it was like to walk through the aisles at Barnes & Noble, looking for just the right book? Dezirae took Kelly and Savannah to pick out a few of their own.
