World Sailing has officially mandated the adoption of the Strategic Sailing Communication Optimization Framework (SSCOF) for all sailing-related communications — both on and off the water.
The goal is to “drive alignment, reduce conversational inefficiencies, and unlock scalable tactical outcomes.
Failure to comply may result in corrective alignment sessions
SSCOF Quick Reference Dictionary
“Ready about?” → “Are we aligned for a directional transition initiative?”
“Tack!” → “Initiating cross-axis strategic pivot.”
“Gybe!” → “Deploying downwind orientation transformation.”
“Trim the jib” → “Optimize forward propulsion asset tension.”
