Applications Now Open for the DWLA Foundation Outreach Grant!

The Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation is now accepting applications for its Outreach Grant, supporting organizations that empower women in the DFW area through impactful projects. Grants range from $500 to $3,000, with funding available for initiatives that:

🔹 Empower women’s professional development
🔹 Provide legal services to women and children
🔹 Support law-related research and education
🔹 Improve the administration of justice for women and children
🔹 Provide training and resources in support of women interested in or currently pursuing a legal career

Deadline to apply: May 8th
Note: Grants may not be used for operating expenses.

Applications for the Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation’s “Get Started Grant” are now open. This grant will help kick-start the legal careers of graduating law students as they enter the legal profession.

Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded to cover bar preparation fees, living costs, and exam fees for a law student graduating in May 2026 who meets the grant requirements (see website for requirements and application: https://dallaswomenlawyersfoundation.org/get-started-grant/

The application deadline is March 27th and will be funded early May 2026. Please share with anyone who may benefit from this grant.

Thank You, Stephanie Culpepper!

DWLA and the DWLA Foundation extend our deepest gratitude to Stephanie Culpepper for her extraordinary service, leadership, and commitment to both organizations.

Stephanie has served as President of both DWLA and the DWLA Foundation, is a founder of the Women’s Mentoring Circles, and has been a dedicated and impactful Board member and supporter throughout the years. Her vision, generosity, and passion have played a vital role in the growth of the Foundation and in creating meaningful opportunities that uplift and empower women in the legal profession.

Stephanie’s legacy is one of leadership, mentorship, and service—and her influence will be felt for years to come. Thank you, Stephanie, for all that you have given to DWLA, the Foundation, and our community.

The Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation congratulates Melissa Gray, Ashley Moreno, and Donna Wood recipients of the 2025 Karen D. McCloud Memorial Grant.

The Karen D. McCloud Memorial Grant was established by the Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation to provide resources to assist solo or small firm women lawyers with the development of their legal practice, through investing in continuing legal education, career coaching, or financial assistance in establishing or growing their practice.

Melissa, Ashley and Donna will be recognized at the 2025 DWLA Awards Gala: Luminosity – Honoring Women Who Light the Way on Saturday, November 8th.

✨ APPLICATION DEADLINE IS THIS WEEK - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10 ✨

Applications are now being accepted for the Karen D. McCloud Memorial Grant. Deadline to apply is Friday, October 10th.

Through the Karen D. McCloud Memorial Grant, the Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation seeks to provide resources to assist a solo or small firm woman lawyer with the development of her legal practice, through investing in continuing legal education, career coaching, or financial assistance in establishing or growing her practice.

A grant in the amount of $1,500.00 will be awarded to a woman lawyer for the foregoing purposes who meets the following requirements:

🔹 Solo practitioner or practices within a small law firm (10 or fewer employees); and
🔹 Demonstrates leadership, mentorship, and/or service in the legal profession and community, most notably elevating the standing of women in the legal profession.

If you align or a woman lawyer you know aligns with the goals of the DWLA Foundation and financial support for a specific need is required, we encourage you to submit an application for consideration.

The Karen D. McCloud Memorial Grant was established in memory of Karen D. McCloud, who served as President of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association in 2004 and received DWLA’s Outstanding Lawyer/Small Firm Award in 2015. Karen will always be remembered for her leadership, service and dedication to the legal profession and community.
