Penitentiary Playas – The Movement is a community based nonprofit serving the needs of economically and social disadvantaged individuals. Our mission is to strengthen and rebuild communities impacted by the effects of incarceration ultimately breaking the cycle of incarceration that exist within the minority community. These men who were previously incarcerated now believe that it is truly time to

"BREAK DOWN BARRIERS and BREAK THE CYCLE OF INCARCERATION among minorities. The Penitentiary Playas are changing the "game"...(the game of life that is) and choose to use their individual and collective experiences to mentor youth and to provide peer-to-peer mentoring to individuals as they transition from prison back into the community. These hustlers turned heroes are God-fearing individuals who want to empower other men and women to protect the youth and rebuild their communities.
