🌾 History is blooming in the Wagon Yard at Frankford.
Long before Dallas grew around it, this was a stopping place for Native Americans and later for settlers traveling west in covered wagons. Thanks to nearby Indian Springs, travelers could rest, water their animals, and camp beneath the Texas sky. Historical records tell us that as many as 25 wagons could be gathered here at one time.
Today, the Wagon Yard is alive with Mexican Hat flowers (named for their distinctive, sombrero shape), Firewheel, Lemon Beebalm, and native prairie grasses—a beautiful reminder that this historic landscape continues to thrive more than 170 years later.
As you walk among the wildflowers, imagine the sounds of wagon wheels, horses, and travelers who once paused here on their journey west. 💚
