Dallas Area Rocket Society

Dallas Area Rocket Society Dallas Area Rocket Society ~ We are one of the largest, and the oldest Texas chapter, of the NAR (National Association of Rocketry.) Operating since 1972.

We are one of the largest, and the oldest Texas chapter, of the NAR (National Association of Rocketry.) Operating since 1972, we have been promoting sport and hobby rocketry throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex nonstop for over 50 years. While launching/flying rockets is our primary activity, our presence also reaches out into the community in other ways. Our outreach programs work with the

Scouts, YMCA, 4H, as well as many local schools and educators, to encourage the next generation of Texans to pursue their interest in science, math, aerospace or engineering. And, kids always fly free! The general public is always welcome to attend any of our launches, bring your rockets and join in the fun. Our members will help you fly everything, from the smaller Estes and Quest model rockets up to custom built high-power rockets reaching altitudes in excess of a mile.

Gunter launch for Saturday (May 16) is SCRUBBED!!! With high winds predicted from Friday through Sunday, the launch is cancelled.

Rain is expected the following week almost everyday. This would include Saturday. There is just enough rain everyday to make the field very messy. So, to keep us from getting stuck in the field...we are just going to bypass Memorial Day weekend.

Lets see how June shapes up!

The field is getting a bit of rain this week. Besides helping the weeds grow, there could be standing water in places and soft spots. So watch where you step. And park.

The rocket shown above is the "Gargas Paradox". It was designed by Bill Gee (member and Secretary of DARS.) The fins and black nose rocket are taken from the club logo.
