Krewe of Ra - DFW

Krewe of Ra - DFW Connecting the Tradition of Mardi Gras with Community Service and Revelry in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex. WhHY IS IT CALLED THE "KREWE OF RA"?

OUR STORY
The Krewe of Ra- DFW was established in the Summer of 2013. Earlier in that same year, a group of Louisiana natives who’d migrated and established lives in the DFW Metroplex, were in search of some good ‘ole Mardi Gras revelry. To the group’s dismay, they quickly discovered that a wide variety of Mardi Gras activities in the DFW were not easily found. It was this discovery that sparked t

he idea, that later birthed the Krewe of Ra - DFW! The founding members chose the name “Ra” to reflect the Krewe’s African influence and culture. Ra was an ancient Egyptian god, associated with the sun, life and creative power. Ra was also believed to appear in many forms, which embodies the diverse experiences, talents and creative energies of the Krewe’s membership. WHAT DO WE DO? The Krewe of Ra was established as a vehicle to participate in social and charitable activities in the DFW area that nourish the mind, body and soul. We believe that this can be accomplished by serving our community and by having FUN! The Krewe will host or participate in various activities including an annual Mardi Gras Ball as its culminating event.
