Meet the GALT Team: Dixie Laney
Dixie Laney had seen Greyhounds at events before, but it was during an interview with longtime GALT supporter Teddy Padden for a Senior Tax Accountant position that the breed really captured her attention. They spent much of the interview talking about Greyhounds, and not long after Dixie got the job, she and her husband Mark adopted their first one: Angel, also known as Bluebonnet and Ico Jetta, GALT #0004.
That was only the beginning. Dixie and Mark have now shared their home with eight Greyhounds. Today, Sandy Paws, Sadie Pack, and Sweet Pea II are part of the family.
Dixie brought her professional talents to GALT in a big way. She became GreytStore Manager in 2013, added Treasurer to her responsibilities in 2022, and became GALT’s Accountant in 2024. Before moving into accounting, Dixie worked as a Buyer for Neiman Marcus, experience that still comes in handy when it is time to merchandise one of her favorite GALT traditions, the Annual Holiday Store.
For Dixie, the best part is seeing the people and dogs who come through the store each year. And she is quick to credit Mark, her husband of many years, for being a tremendous help behind the scenes with the GreytStore.
Her service extends beyond GALT as well. Dixie serves as Vice President and Treasurer of the Sunset High School Alumni Association.
