SOSMC is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization founded in 2016 to raise funds for lifting and renovating the school buildings of the Opportunity School for special needs children in Chennai, India The school’s purpose is to educate and train these children to become self-sufficient members of society. Many have been abandoned by their families due to extreme poverty and cu
ltural shaming. Being shunned by family and unwanted in the society, their only hope is The Opportunity School. The three school buildings are very old and dilapidated. The school's property has been ravaged by monsoon flooding year after year. The Opportunity School receives contributions from the neighboring churches and organizations in Chennai, India for the operation of the school, but nothing is left over for renovation of the buildings. So, we at SOSMC are raising funds to renovate the Opportunity School and lift the buildings 5 feet up and away from the flood waters. We have completed one of the three buildings, and are raising funds for the final two.
