What a fantastic concert we shared on Saturday night! ✨ It was a special evening of music, art, and poetry, and we loved singing in the sanctuary at Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church.

This is truly a special village brought together by the joy of music. Thank you to our musicians and audience for your presence and love.💜

A huge thanks to Wedgwood Arts and Adam Frame for hosting us, and to Aspen VanHooser for creating a beautiful abstract visual expression of The Poet’s Voice. We are grateful to our outstanding soloists, Dr. Heather Hawk, David Mejía, and Courtney Parnitke, as well as Janet Pummill for the gorgeous piano prelude music and to Dr. Ben Charles for playing percussion. As always, we could not do this without our fabulous collaborative pianist, Dr. Amy Stewart!

✨ Meet the artists of the evening ✨

On Saturday, February 7 at 5 PM, umanità Chorale presents The Poet’s Voice, a concert celebrating the deep relationship between poetry and music and the voices that bring both to life.

This evening will feature a unique collaboration with Fort Worth based artist Aspen VanHooser, who will paint live in response to the music, weaving visual art and choral sound into a multisensory experience.

Even though winter weather cost us one of our four rehearsals, we are so excited for this semester’s umanità concert! This group shows up with heart, flexibility, and a deep commitment to music, and we can’t wait to share what we have been building together.
